  • or get a Huawei myfi or equivalent device?

  • The description of the Router says it has 5 modes, including "bridge".
REP, can you comment on whether one could hypothetically plug this into the USB of a blu-ray (for power), and use it as bridge if your blu-ray only has an ethernet port (and no wifi)?

    • Powered by USB port

This should work. you could also power it from the wall (probably better choice)

      • Thanks, I'm getting one.
The price seems good. Normally a wireless bridge costs quite a bit.

    • +1

it's called client mode, and yes apparently, you can do that:

      • thanks. I thought it was called bridge, but I'm probably confused with "wireless bridge" versus normal bridge.

  • Good for hotel rooms with only wired internet. It's not quite as simple as an AirPort Express to set up, but its significantly cheaper too. Just set it up in bridge mode and it should be good to go. But do check before you go on your holiday.

  • So in repeater mode, this device could be used to relay/extend a wifi signal from any router?

  • No 802.11N? That pretty much makes it a non-starter.

Edit:Except that when I click through to the product page it says 802.11N. Rep, can you please clear this up in your post?

2nd edit: The manufacturer says it does 802.11N.

  • The price of $19.97 is in USD. I cannot get the web site to show me the price in AUD.

    • I think you'll find they only accept USD, but you could use PayPal to do the conversion. Or save money and get a 28 degrees Mastercard, which has a a better conversion rate than Paypal, and doesn't charge you a conversion fee on top like Paypal do.

    • Thank you for your feedback. We will revise the error a.s.a.p..

  • Some more information about this router: it is 2.4GHz only, no 5GHz band. However, it's still good value-for-money for what it is.

I just received mine and the firmware is in Chinese and apparently can't be flashed to the English version. So unless you can read Chinese this device is pretty much useless. I think the seller is dodgy by not warning about this issue. They don't respond to questions either, whether within the 24 hour claimed response time or after weeks. Not happy!

    • did you try using this address? http://192.168.1.253/goform/setSysLang?en

      • That didn't work for me, but there is an emulator that sort of helps as the interface is not quite the same.

Would be good if you could set the language to English on the Chinese version however.
