Looking for Alternatives to Shipito

So I've been looking for an alternative to shipito for a while. I don't like the USD 60/year subscription and I'm not convinced their shipping rates are the best. It also annoys me that they don't have a shipping method that allows the transport of lithium batteries but maybe that just isn't possible these days. Also, a package was delivered a few days ago and it still hasn't shown up in their system.

I'm keen to hear an Australian perspective on alternatives hence the post here.

Hi, You need to check with individual carriers on the paperwork and if they will carry Lithium Batteries.

It is less of a problem if enclosed e.g. If the battery forms part of a new Laptop.

Last time I used Shipito there was a lot of paperwork on the Batteries and no subscription fee.

  • Cheers, thanks for the list.

I'm keen to know peoples experience with different services.

  • I've been using Planet Express for a few years now without any issues. I've heard it's from a former Shipitto manager/employee.

  • I ship direct where ever I can these days. The days of freight forwarders being cheaper than other methods is long past. If I have to use a freight forwarder because the retailer won't ship direct then I've used USGoBuy the last few times (since Shipito attempted to scam me). No idea if they'll ship batteries though.

    • How did they try to scam you?

      • I've posted details before but TLDR version, had an $800ish and out of production item that I paid for shipping, insurance and extra bubble wrap etc. Item arrived damaged and it was clear no extra packing material had been added so filed a claim which they very quickly came back and said the carrier had denied the claim. Asked why, no response. Not being one to be ignored I asked the carrier directly who told me the package had never been insured nor had any claim been lodged. So they'd taken the money I paid for extra packing material and insurance for and just pocketed it then lied about the damage claim. There's more as it went on for several months but ended up well in my favour.

        • Please do share the details, that horrible business practices. Did you leave a negative review somewhere?
