Sound quality isn't the primary reason for buying these. These are primarily for a combination of convenience, noise-cancelling, and reasonable sound quality.
Thats audiophile nonsense.
True blind test, no-one can tell the difference.
Dr Sean Olive has tested this on trained listeners.
Not sure why you are being downvoted, it’s true most can’t tell the difference between aac and flac.
Damn eh. I've never been able to tell the difference in the past, but recently set up a DAC and half decent set of corded open back headphones. It didn't sound that impressive to me, but when I dug into it I realised that I was still playing compressed audio from my computer. Plugged in my tablet instead and streamed the same song, this time lossless, and it was a very noticeable difference.
Entirely anecdotal of course, and I've no idea how compressed the original stream was - there comes a point where most people would be able to tell the difference I'm sure.
Thing is…I was expecting a lossless high quality audio stream in the first instance, but I could clearly hear that something was wrong. It's apples vs oranges, but I can say that the corded headphones fed by a DAC are far superior to my very best Bluetooth cans, and I think anybody would be able to hear this. I guess the qualification here is, exactly how much compression is being applied?
What are the wired and bluetooth headphones in this scenario?
These are comparable (and much better imo) to the typical popular headphones like xm3, qc35/45, surface, etc etc.
These would be a big jump over most in ear buds, plus these are over ears, entirely different form factor…
Good find.
I’d jump on these but both Rtings and Soundguys show some pretty inconsistent FR between both channels.
Got a link for the rtings page? I can only find the previous Momentum 3 on there. Also all the YouTube reviews so far seem pretty consistent and positive
Sorry, I was thinking of Crinacle’s measurements.
Though he actually has a better measuring rig than Rtings.
https://twitter.com/crinacle/status/1558125365230350341?s=20…
to be honest it looks fine. deviations or unevenness from target is very common amongst headphones with anc. the thing i am concerned with is the bass quantity. it looks like it will bloat a little as the shelf ends after 200hz
IMO I would take Crinacle and especially his fans with a grain of salt. Rtings should have their review out soon.
@sponson: You’re not wrong. But for pure measurements, his rig is more accurate than Rtings Head Acoustics HMS.

"good deal considering they've only been released for 2 days with RRP of $549.95."
The RRP is a cynical manipulation of a cognitive bias that works by establishing what's called an "anchoring effect" on prospective buyers. Effectively it's there to influence dopey consumers into believing a deal exists when there is none.
Uk import hence price. Pound is quite weak against Aud
This is AUS Stock
Just shows that Sennheiser got greedy with the Australia tax then, as everywhere else in the world, these are cheaper than the Sony XM5s, yet they're the same price here.
Amazon AU now back at full price, Amazon UK at cheaper price.
hopefillu black friday or boxing day price will be cheaper. like around $400 and I'll would be sweet
$549 was probably a bit too high price for these seeing all the pro in-ear earbuds available around $300-350. These don't provide much better sound anyway as it's limited by the bluetooth codecs / bandwidth.
