  • How does downunder5 compared to Jumbuck?

Jumbuck Stardom II 4 Burner BBQ

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/jumbuck-stardom-ii-4-burner-bbq_…

    • I prefer the Bunnings unit myself - I've got one myself. It has a proper spot for the gas bottle and the grill is closer spaced for skinny things such as prawns, thin sausages.
It used to be $279 though.
Read the reviews on the BBQ Galore site - someone reckons the Bunnings item caught fire on him??
My opinion is side burners never get used but they all seem to have them.

  • This is just advertising spam, it says so in the opening line.

  • 1399 for a MB560??? Absolute joke. Guys picking them up in the states for a couple of hundred US…

    • Please share a link, I'm looking at these and it may be cheaper to ship from the US if they are that cheap

  • Anyone have a Masterbuilt Gravity Series 560 Digital Charcoal Grill + Smoker? How do you like it?

    • Yes, is pretty decent when it's working but prone to sensor failure. Paid $780 for mine. Definitely wouldnt pay over 1k for it.

    • Will be selling mine shortly to be replaced by a built in Traeger

    • Had mine for nearly 2 years. 2-3 cooks per week, mix of grilling & smoking mostly, and rotisserie use every few weeks - no issues that weren't my own fault. Had the lid switch fail because I did a high temp sear after a number of fatty low and slow cooked, which obviously caused a bit of a fire.

While they obviously aren't the most well built, robust grills out there, the ease of use and great flavour I get out of it means I use it far more than the kamado I had before. Would get another one in a heartbeat.

      • How do you find it for grilling. How quickly does it heat up ready to grill say sausages?

It's about 5-7 minutes to 110c (for smoking etc), and a couple more (8-10 total) for 240c. Obviously add a few more to get grates up to temp.

If I try to have the charcoal delivered (Sydney Metro):
    + 1x 18KG is charging me $15 delivery fees
    + 2x 18KG is charging me $45
    + 3x 18KG is charging me $75

I guess that's one way to avoid bulk orders… anyone else have any recommendations for quality charcoal (delivered)?

  • Anyone familiar with the high-end Ziegler and Brown barbies? Looking for a good bbq that I won't need to replace for a decade. Big family so need the grilling space. I'll pay more if it buys me more.

We're busy so if it's a PITA to clean it won't get much use. So easy cleaning is valuable.

I've had a Z&B barbie for about 10 years - before they were actually known as Z&B I believe. I use it 3-4 times a week (basically the rest of the week I'm not using the Masterbuilt mentioned above!) and it's still going pretty strong. All original parts up until I recently replaced the grates with GrillGrates and the other two standard burners with the RQT burners - as I find they can get hotter but seem to use less gas.

Cleaning is the same as any bbq really, though I think using GrillGrates actually makes it easier to clean up.'

Some of the exterior chrome is wearing off and the thermometer doesn't work anymore, but no real signs it's going to give out anytime soon.
