Coinciding with 'The GOG Sale' that kicked off several hours ago, GOG has brought back 'Insomnia deals' event again for 24 hours only (ends Wednesday August 24th, 03:00AM AEST), similar to the earlier GOG Insomnia promotion I posted about in mid-June.
How does GOG's Insomnia Deals work?
- Every 1 hour, at the top of the hour, one specific game gets discounted, at a discount rate (the 'Insomnia discount') that is deeper than the 'regular' discount that might already be there due to the current 'GOG Sale' promotion.
- Each 'Insomnia discounted' game has limited stock, e.g. 1,000 copies up for grabs, for that 1 hour period.
- At the end of the hour, a new game replaces it and is showcased with its particular 'Insomnia discount' rate, and the previous game's listed price then reverts back to its normal price (or the 'regular' discounted price if there happened to be one before it was highlighted as an Insomnia Deal).
- If you happen to already have a currently Insomnia discounted game in your library, you can't purchase another copy of it during that Insomnia discount period of 1 hour.
IMPORTANT: to obtain the 'Insomnia discount', you have to use the GOG.com main page's Insomnia section for that game you're interested in, and click the 'Buy Now' button on the Insomnia page section:
- if you go directly to that game's page on the GOG store instead, and then click 'Buy', the 'Insomnia discount' will NOT be applied (it will either be the regular price or 'regular' discount if there was one at the time).
I haven't yet found the fine print details as to exactly when this new Insomnia Deals promotion will end, but when I do, I'll update this post's Expiry date. EDIT: I misread the GOG news post, this Insomnia promotion was for 24 hours only (!)
- The last time I posted about the previous Insomnia Deals promotion, it took a LOT of effort to keep updating/maintaining the list of games that went in and out of various Insomnia discount rates … I'm not sure I have the energy to do something like that again this time around.
- … although it was a fun meta-game in and of itself, to try and 'predict' what the next upcoming Insomnia discounted game could be, before the 1 hour period is up :-)
deeply discounted = 33% off, lol
