Claim Eligibility - ANZ Credit Card Complimentary Travel Insurance

Hi All,

Long story short, the airline I was traveling with lost my luggage when I went to Europe and I am now filing a claim through my ANZ complimentary credit card insurance.

One of the eligibility criteria is to spend at least $250 on my travel itinerary before leaving Australia.

  1. before leaving Australia you spend at least $250 on your prepaid travel costs (i.e. your travel
costs that you pay for before leaving Australia) and you charge these costs (e.g. cost of your
return overseas travel ticket; and/or airport/ departure taxes; and/or your prepaid overseas
accommodation/ travel; and/or your other prepaid overseas itinerary items) to the
    accountholder’s card account;

My departure date was on the 05/06/2022. I spent $100 in the prior months and $245 on the 04/06/2022.

On the ANZ mobile app, the transaction is dated on the 04/06/2022.

However, on my statement for the $245 transaction , it displays the processed date as 06/06/2022 and the transaction date 04/06/2022.

My question is, will ANZ / Allianz be looking at the transaction or the processed date? My fear is that if it is the processed date then I'll be out of luck with this claim.

Any input and advice is appreciated, thanks!

  • Have you asked them?
The only way to know for certain is to ask them or to put in the claim and find out

  • The 04/06 is a Saturday and the 06/06 is the Monday. It sounds like the transaction date was 04/06 and the posting date 06/06. It can take up to 48 hours for the transaction to settle, so I'd say you're fine. Whatever it is you purchased, the receipt will show the transaction date as 04/06.

Just lodge a claim and see what happens. If they push back (chances is that they might not), just say that you did spend the money before your departure. There's nothing in the paragraph you quoted that suggest the payment must be cleared (not pending) before you left Australia.

The transaction date is the contract date and that means the transaction will count towards your cc spend

  • It will be fine !

  • You are worrying too much… lodge a claim and find out.

  • You quite clearly spent and booked whatever you spent it on on the transaction date so you will be fine and this will be obvious to ANZ. I am sure you also have a booking confirmation on whatever you booked so this will help if there is any issue.
