[Afterpay] Gigabyte Radeon RX 6800 GAMING OC 16GB DDR6 Graphics Card $679.15 Delivered @ Harris Technology eBay

650
AFPAYDAY

Original Coupon Deal

Asus version sold out so looks like they have dropped the price on this Gigabyte board.

Still HODLING but it's getting tough.

I can't see these boards getting much cheaper than this but I could be wrong.

I assume Afterpay is wearing the 15% discount on this sale rather than the Ebay stores, whereas with the usual 15-17% Ebay sales, I bet it is the stores taking the hit and hence the price jacking that usually occurs.

This is part of Afterpay Day sale for 2022

  • Been waiting for a good 6800 deal as it's the recommended card for Starfield.
So hard to HODL, especially with Starfield release tentatively as 1H23.

  • +2

Tom's hardware ranks RX6800 just below the RTX3080 in performance.
    How legit is that?

    • +1

RX6800 is more comparable to a 3070ti but also depends on the game.

      • +4

not really, it is smack in the middle between the two, it beats the 3070ti comfortably in most benchmarks (except RT)

        • is rt legit for 3070?

          • +2

@kaleidoscope: No. RT is a steaming turd on it. It is barely ok on a 3080 and that is only at 1080p. But it is awesome in comparison to the AMD GPU performance in RT.

            • @gromit: Glad you see it that way without being triggered. My question was rhetorical 🫣.

Like you said it’s been shown over and over on hardware unboxed channel that RT below 3080 is a joke.

              just fyi i use a 2060 :-)

              • +2

@kaleidoscope: yup, I have no particular allegiance to either, I build machines for friends with Nvidia and AMD cards (currently I am on an RX6800 for myself). RT realistically is at least another generation or 2 away before it is something to seriously consider on a card.

                • @gromit: Late to the conversation but another consideration is DLSS 2.0 if you were comparing the two I would definitely look into DLSS performance for the titles you are looking to play. 1.0 was a bit meh but 2.0 is much more of a game-changer I have not looked too much into AMDs offerings here.

When I was looking at a new GPU I went with a 6800 for my wife's PC, it met the Price per ratio that I was looking for at the time. Money being no object I would usually give the nod to Nvidia, the 3000 series was the first generation I personally skipped in over a decade. While I've only had Nvidia cards these years I'm a ATI fanboy at heart :)

In terms of looking up benchmarks and results if you could only use one source it would be Gamers Nexus 100 times out of 100.

                  • +1

@TheFyrd: Personally I disagree, everyone I know with a Nvidia card turns DLSS 2.0 off as even though it is much better than 1.0 they still don't like the effect it has on sharpness.

    • +1

That's about right, unless you are into Ray Tracing then they are very similar performance wise (game dependent of course).

    • There are a lot of variables. the 6800 will have more of an advantage at 1440p where as 3080 will smash 4k.

    • +9

Worse than Intel when it comes to GPUs? Sounds like someone been keeping up to date with the Arc news.

As someone that has built and used a more than a few AMD and NVIDIA systems, their stability has been pretty similar in my experience - as long as you make sure Windows doesn't automatically install its own AMD drivers.

      • +1

Maybe all the driver cleaner he’s got has messed everything up haha

    • +1

Please ignore this nonsense. 6800 is a great price to performance card.

    • Your information is abysmal.

  • +1

    not bad

  • +2

Wow now that's a deal. Hard to HODL. There better be something incredible at 679.15 next gen or I might just cr.. Be happy with what I've got because we are all very fortune here.

    • +2

Be at least a year before mid/low tier next gen cards come out.
      And who knows about pricing…

      • +1

Yeah that is the worry, but then people will say hold for the refreshes because they will be 10% faster :/

        • +1

Refreshes will be 50%+ performance from what we've been hearing, at least on the amd side. However, given increase in raw materials and foundry cost, inflation, and weaker aussie dollar since 2020 I would expect 25% increase in rrp (for what that's worth), or perhaps more.

And yeah, the 6700xt tier with navi 32 is unlikely to come out this year. So I would expect the cheapest way to get into a new gen card will be $1200-1300 for the foreseeable future.

We'll see if the promised flood of used mining cards hits the market mid-late September… For me, I've caved and gone with a $760 6800xt.

          • @snep: What you are referring to are the next gen cards I think he would be referring to refreshes of those

            • @somm: Right — it can turn into a cycle of waiting…

    • Next gen mid range is said to be coming out with 8-12GB's of ram :).. low end will get 8GB's for sure they are trying to cut back on price to make them cheaper to sell in a depressed market

  • +2

I don't need a card right now so will be hodling, but this is good enough to pull the trigger.

  • You can pick up the 6800XT ASUS TUF card for $806- with the same code

    • +2

Or the Gigabyte OC 6800xt for $760

  • Will this work on windows in a razer core x? Their website seems to indicate it might only work on a Mac….?

  • Thanks OP I snaffled one up to use with my work-issued Macbook Pro 2018 using a Razer Core X.

  • HODL! HODL? HODL!?

  • +1

Does anyone know if there is significant difference between the 6800 and 6900? Tossing up between those two or a 3070

    • -5
    • One of the best ways to check the difference is just to search for youtube videos which compare them side by side in a bunch of games with an otherwise identical setup, with frame rates and averages on screen. Especially if it's one of the larger outlets like Gamers Nexus or Hardware Unboxed who seem more professional about it. Linus Tech Tips and JayTwoCents may also be okay but they seem more about showmanship over facts as a priority.

One thing to keep in mind though is that with such high end cards and on max settings, the CPU might be the one to reach its max performance first, so high end cards might give identical performance in some games. It's those where there's a difference and the graphics card isn't bottlenecked by the CPU where you'll more likely see the real difference.

  • 6800 at 680 or 6800xt for 760?

    • oh, you meant $680 or $760!

    • +4

      Going from Tom's Hardware's numbers at 1440p:
      - 6800xt is 14% faster than 6800
      - 6800xt is 12% more expensive than 6800

So fps/$ is within margin of error. But given fps/$ usually decreases significantly as you go higher end, I'd say the 6800xt is a marginally better deal.

      • 6800 still wins at performance per watt only beaten by the rx6600

    • How do you claim the free games?. Its bought from Ebay Harris Tech and there's no option when i go down to Australia?
