Nvidia Shield and Dolby Vision Bluray Remuxes?

Hey all,

I've just got a new tv that supports dolby vision, and I'm looking to play back all of my remuxed blurays (profile 7).

They're remuxed as mkv. Can the 2019 Nvidia Shield play these correctly? What limitations should I be aware of?

Does the Shield still suffer from the red tint issue with DV?

    Have only ever played through Plex, which was fine. Could be time to setup your own personal Plex server? Certainly looks prettier than file names

    Note that I haven't got dv remuxes, just standard 4k bluray remux

      Yeah, I have it all on a Plex server, but need a player compatible with them. I have an Apple TV 4K, but it only plays DV via streaming (or rips from streaming services).

        If you have a 4K Apple TV anyway, you should look into Infuse Pro instead of Plex. Infuse is basically Plex, but the media playlists and decoding is all done on Infuse itself, instead of needing any kind of software on your computer your computer. All you need to do is share your media folders on the network and add them to the Infuse app. It looks like profile 5 Dolby Vision is supported, maybe profile 8, so I guess that means limited to HDR10 playback.

          ATV can only play Profile 5. Anything else and it falls back to HDR because that is how it is.

          Yeah, I have Infuse. It's great! But, like NoGiveJustTake said, ATV won't play profile 7. :(

    lol Dolby Vision. You can't play the enhancement layer in profile 7. If you sail the seas, look for HYBRID releases.

    You can on a shield, however be aware that there will be red push present. Most people don't notice it, but I usually keep my m2ts files (The default from my rips) and convert them to ts in tsmuxer to play them without any issues on my sony x700.

        No problem mate :)
        Make sure the remuxes have the additional DV layer as well, you can use media info and if you see a second 1920x1080 video stream under the 4K one, you’re good to go.

          Not all Dolby Vision are dual layers, and dual layers can be converted to single layer.
