PSA: Snickers Chocolate Bars Are Being MADE IN AUSTRALIA Again!

Noticed at the local IGA/Coles today that the Snickers bars inclusive of sharepacks are being Made in Australia again!

This is wonderful news as opposed to them being Made in China. The Chinese version in my eyes sucked in terms of quality and were a harder/firmer chocolate.

I am glad Masterfoods operations have recommenced making the Snickers bar back in OZ.

Hopefully TWIX is next on the schedule and we return it from being Made in Egypt.

Have a good weekend:)

(Note, some stores may still be trying to get through the Made In China allocations before stocking the Made in Aus version).

Was your partner Made in Australia ;)

        • Maybe his children surely.

    Thank Fking God.

I flat refused to eat that Chinese made variant.

Why did they think it was a good idea?

Yeah it's cheaper to make but less people will want this Mainland excrement.

They were upgrading facilities, but I guess it took them years to do that.
Least they were true to their word about bringing the manufacturing back to our shores.

Just had one before, much nicer, softer and taste how it used to.

    EEW

  • Yess, I saw this the other day and was so happy!
However I havent had an australian made snickers since ~2018, so can't recall how it tasted.
I tasted it but for me it tasted very similar to the chinese made ones (had one in 2018 but noticed a taste change and found it was made in China - never again)

  • Hopefully TWIX is next on the schedule and we return it from being Made in Egypt.

was there a noticeable change between the version we made of Twix and the current version? i used to love Twix as a kid, but every time i've had them as an adult, they seemed pretty mediocre and nothing like what i had as a kid. I'm not sure if this is just because everything seemed better as a kid, or if there was a noticeable change.

I actually picked up on the taste.
The biscuit was much tougher and not as crumbly. I checked the label and saw Made in Egypt.
That kind of gave it away for me, i went to USA foods and got a TWIX made from the states, night and day and ours was very close to the USA made.

      Have avoided since unfortunately.

      • by ours* I meant the original TWIX made in Aus:)

        • when did they change it? should have ordered one from there.. shipping was like 20 bucks, not going to order again any time soon

  • I prefer a hard Snickers. I don't know if it's the candy going stale or what, but the fresh/soft ones don't taste right to me. Twix as well, I feel like it should be hard and chewy.

I have contacted them seversl times since the closure for upgradrs snout the wuality etc snd that they initislly said it was a 6 month upgrade.

This was my last contact in July 2021.

Thank you for contacting us about SNICKERS®. We appreciate your continued interest and we're sorry that the upgrade is taking some time.

The Ballarat factory continued to undergo important upgrades. These upgrades are nearly complete and we’re looking forward to returning production to Australia early next year. For the time being, SNICKERS® will continue to be produced at our China facility.

Until then, rest assured we apply consistent quality standards at all our global manufacturing facilities to make sure we produce high quality, safe products for fans around the world.

After buying a Snickers every day for near on 25 years. I have weened myself of them (Thanks CHINA). Will not be going back.

  • Great news! I actually sent feedback when I learned about them being made in china. Im glad they have been brought back true to their word…

PS: If you haven't noticed, the 'Medium' bars are now smaller too: 50g (China) -> 44g (Australia)

    • Interesting.
I was actually wondering about the sharepacks before. But could see they are still 216g.

Thanks for the heads up about the medium size bars.

      Just had to didnt they.

      • Snickers Medium Bars:

        Front
        Back

        • Jeez that is disappointing.
I assume the excuse will be the war or covid.

So they upgraded the factory in order to down size the bar. Seems fair…🥴

        • What is the taste comparison?

  • That's the first time I have ever seen something MADE IN EGYPT, apart from some fruit (Dates)

Of all the countries, Why would TWIX only be Made in Egypt?

    Do Arabs like Twix????

  • Looks like the Aussie version has shrunk by 12%.
    Down from 50gm to 44gm
The cost of manufacturing in AU?
