For future proofing…is it worth buying a 1200w power supply or not?
Any other options?

New 4000 series gpu, new 13 series intel cpu….mainly those two…have been reading you will need atleast 1000w psu…so trying to be ahead?
There are plenty of online PC power supply calculators. You select your components then it tells you the best wattage plus add some headroom.
I recommend au PC part picker.
with that lot buy the 1200 w psu and use the extra 200w on refrigeration lol
Once the new GPUs and CPUs are released, there will be far more (and cheaper) big PSU options!
Probably a bit silly to "future proof" with current limited selection and high priced items :/
Give it 18 months and there will be $100 1000W PSUs ;)
Unless you plan on getting 13th gen i9 and an RTX 4090 and then overclocking them both, it sounds like overkill
yep, id have to run 3 x 3070TI with 6 HDDs to need that much power.
Corsair HX1200 should run you about $300. No need to spend $550 on a PSU.
Thanks will grab it.
Will that work in this case?

Does look like there's an extended PSU section with the shroud so it should.

I've been using Corsair PSUs for over a decade and they're rock solid. 10 year warranty, 80 Plus Platinum, Japanese capacitors, fully modular and fan switches off when not required so completely silent when idle. Recommended.
No not worth it atm, you gotta wait for that new tech psu that are going to come out along with the 4000 series video cards.
It will instantly make all previous power supplies redundant and not in the good way.
If you want a 4090. Yes. But get a new pcie 5 gen power supply so you don't have to use the converter cable that is a fire hazard.
Also needs to factor in the cost of installing aircon so one doesn't die of heat stroke or have their room spontaneously combust.
Depends on what you plan on adding? Additional hard drives? More graphics cards? Additional cards for USB ports etc?
Generally around 650W is fine for most builds.
