I saw the post for Breville The Oracle Coffee Machine back on the same sale as like 2 months ago with a different 15% off Good Guys code, so thought this is worth posting too.

I bought the Breville Barista Pro Stainless Steel about a month ago now from JB for a negotiated price (from $899 to $810) & used JB perks voucher bringing it down to $800. So far have used it every morning since and loving it.

Barista Pro - Stainless Steel $764.15
Barista Pro - Smoked Hickory $764.15
Barista Pro - Black Truffle $764.15

Also seems like you can use the code for the Barista Express but only the Stainless Steel version seems to accept the code for me? Still a capable machine as far as I've read…
Barista Express - Stainless Steel $594.15

Hopefully info is correct as kinda rushed through post while at work…

Note: apply coupon code HOME at checkout

Also make sure to redeem the Breville Father's Day Coffee BONUS by September 12th.
I recieved it within about 10 days of submitting claim (in SA).
The 2 x double wall glasses we recieved with the Pro gift pack are Bodum branded… much better quality and durability than Baccarat! Super stoked with them.

Original GG 15% OFF Range Coupon Deal

Edit: May be valid to use with Cashrewards increased cash back offer this afternoon 19/08/22. Thanks @geek001

    • If you happy with pod coffee, then nothing wrong with that, its much easier to use, less room to take, quicker, less cleaning, etc. How do you froth the milk?

      • Exactly, I have the Oracle and a mate just likes instant.

    • For referance, a 1kg bag of beans makes ~142 cups of coffee. A 1kg bag costs about $45, depending on the supplier, which comes in at around 31c per cup.

I would like to see how you worked out 142 cups from 1kg lol

    • I'm buying $60 per kg beans and using 18g per cup, but then of course there's a little wastage etc too… So looking at around $1 per cup not including milk… Tastes better than a pod machine though.

    • I'd assume unless you're getting pods for less than 50c each double espresso shot is cheaper…. Depending how much you spend on the coffee. Just get what's on sale or what's well priced I'd say, but can confirm some beans are absolute garbage.

That said, pod machine is likely 90% less time involved with making, cleaning and maintenance. It's two different things, probably not really easily comparable.

If you want a pod machine experience with a bit better taste some of the automatic machines will do that (again, with more maintenance than a pod machine), but the final result will never be as good as something you make yourself after practice.

Thanks for the post!!! I have been wanting to buy a new coffee machine for ages and i have just got it. Great deal !

    • 🤠

  • Faffed about for 2 hours deciding whether it's worth buying vs just sticking with the current Nespresso pod machine, before biting the bullet. Fingers crossed.

Make sure you give yourself time to learn how to make a good cup of coffee - it won't be as straight forward or as fast as your Nespresso machine right from the get go, but with a little practice, you'll be making significantly better cups of coffee in just a few minutes! It can be a really enjoyable morning ritual as well. I'd recommend Lance Hedrick, James Hoffman and La Marzocco Home's Online Tutorials for learning the foundations. Enjoy! :)

  • Thanks for the comments guys. Will stay with pods for now. LOR and Starbucks pods are our go to. We are too time poor to fluff around with a "proper" machine. Work has one of these, the grinder takes ages to fill a double shot basket and the end result is not much better than pods. Maybe it's the beans or the way I'm tampering it?

Don't have time to froth the milk either so it's 30 seconds in the microwave, quick and dirty but does the job. 😅

    • I came from a pod machine. Had a decent one with a milk frother built in, Nespresso touch? Tried all the brands, LOR included.

Anyway, you can’t compare pods to the coffee you make from this machine/barista express. Making my first using Aldi beans I had no idea what I was doing, I just filled the grinder and left everything on default. The amount of coffee it grinded by default into my basket was way too much and spilled everywhere but it still tasted better than the best pod coffee I’ve made lol.

  • Went to order last night but couldn’t settle on a colour. Went to see them in person today, only to find the code had expired. Thought I had another day. Best they’d do was $850, so needless to say we didn’t get one. Oh well.

    • If you have afterpay, try binglee and good guys eBay. It’s not as good a deal (without 8% Cashrewards) but still $899 less 15%.

    • You have to be quick here, these incredible offers fly out, either expires or run out of stock. Someone mentioned that you can get it from BingLee ebay for same price delivered for Ebay+ members. Your second chance..

    • If any doubt, just order the stainless…

      • agree, best colour and match with other appliances / sink / taps, etc. All Italian machines are SS too

      • I was looking at smoked hickory. Should have just ordered it, it was the one we preferred in person.

  • Just made the switch from Nespresso pods to the Barista Express Impress. I didn’t mind pods but the espresso from this is a far more enjoyable drink IMO.

The assisted dosing and tamping on the Impress is super helpful for making things simpler and a bit quicker to get the coffee made. Also super friendly for my wife who wants minimal fuss.

I went through about 400g of beans dialling it in to get the flow and flavour the way I like it, so don’t necessarily expect it to make a great coffee out of the box.

One tip, since it can’t make shots and froth milk at the same time, I’ve been getting good results quickly by using the old Nespresso milk frother as I’m making shots and then it’s all ready at the same time.
