  • It's not quite the $750 ish from a couple of months ago, but not too bad. Just wish i could justify it with the home finance department.

    • Honestly I was holding out for that deal to repeat, but unfortunately no such luck, only 15% off this time. Still better than the previous $810, and with some stacking I can meet the $750, but hopefully it'll come back down that cheap again soon

  • Not a bad deal! I picked up UDMP (not SE) earlier in the year and was hoping to pick up a USW 16 port POE today, but looks like there’s still significant lack of stock in the country 😭

    • Likewise, wanted a 24 port PoE but OOS.

    • Just be aware the 16 port POE SFP is not 10G … I had to set my DSE to 1GB as it didn’t even auto negotiate the connection .. thought it was stuffed for a while.

      • Wow TIL. Thanks for the heads up. Will make sure I pick a model that can do 10G… a little annoying but good to know now!

        • Ubiquiti barely have anything that's 10Gb capable - you'll need to look hard !

          • @Nom: Hmm yeah came to notice this. I only really needed a 16p POE switch to handle 5 POE devices (cameras + AP) and as tempting as it is to have another shiny piece of ubiquiti gear in my rack, I think the pragmatic thing to do is to stick with my USW 8 port / 4 port POE and run the extra off an injector to make my wallet happier for the time being.

    What is this?

Why benefit would this give over my Asus Router?

    It doesnt even have WiFi!

Not sure if this is a joke? It's a modular setup, where you can add additional access points and put them where-ever you wish, with a centralised controller to run the whole setup. This lets you scale up, and cover wider areas, plus camera options and more.

If you have to ask then this product isn't for you!

It would be nice if we were in a country where the 2.5gb WAN would be needed. Future proof? Will the NBN ever go above 1gb? Probably not in my lifetime.

    • and wont let you use the fibre optics directly neither

    • For me, the POE ports (run AP and cameras directly) with option to runs fibre to another switch is the benefit, but yeah the Wan is wasted in AU unless you're a business

In my setup I remapped the 2.5 Gbps to LAN, and use port 8 as WAN. You can map the SFP+ WAN to LAN too to give you 2x 10 Gbps locally. Too bad can't do both.

I've remapped the 2.5 Gbps so that I can connect the only 2.5 Gbps computer in the house.

      • You can do that? More you know!

  • Just received mine. Did anyone else receive theirs unsealed?

    • Still awaiting mine (VIC), hopefully by the end of the week I'll let you know. I'd be pretty disappointed if that's the case.

    • Finally got mine, came in original printed box, brown paper-tape seal, and looks like it's got the white protective covering. All seems right here? Might be worth reaching out to Wireless1 if your experience differs from what I've wrote here.
