Where to buy cheap Vodafone and Telstra starter packs

Looking for a cheap starter pack for both of the above networks to test out reliability.
Any deals out there for a started pack with some credit attached?

    With the $2, I realise you can pop the sim in to see signal, but is there a number you can call on it to test the call quality?
