Perhaps check this site and see if you can find any times the particular model has gone on sale

    JB $2495

    • Wow!. Thanks! I literally had a browser open for JB HiFi that showed $2995. Refreshed it and it's $2495

A few stores have it for that price, including Sony themselves

If you have any eBay coupons, it's the same price on there. I have a coupon on my account which would bring it down to $2375

      New and already saved $500

      • Good attitude.

        You'll do well here.

        • Oh he has only started. The savings are good but the impulse buys are not so good.

Looks at cheap junk shame pile.

If they still make them like they used to, they will easily last 20+ years and are well worth the money.

I actually realized something most TV's these days are "smart" TV's, maybe that might affect them negatively.

Tv is like laptop these days, so many tech in them, I wouldn't be using one for 20 years.

"so many tech in them, I wouldn't be using one for 20 years."

What do you mean? Are you saying you will throw it out or get rid of it before it's broken?

Sorry but the second part doesn't make sense to me.
A year ago I even compared power consumption between the LCD model I have, and the newer 1080p model version of same screen size. To my surprise the new model consumes more electricity! I will happily keep my old Sony LCD.

No one cares about your old 1080p LCD and power consumption, we are up to 8k resolution now… Stuff these days isn't meant to last 20 years it's either massively outdated or it's so cheap to manufacture it's throw away and buy again…
