Experiences with Kmart Air Mattress?

Hi all

Looking to get a queen or double size air mattress from Kmart. The cheapest is $7, then $79, $89 So on.

Looking for an option that is:

  • Cheap
  • Quick and easy to Inflate/deflate
  • Reasonable easy to store (preferably deflated and folded into a neat parcel)

Any recommendations?

Example 1

Example 2

Example 3

Above in order from least premium to most premium.

Thanks a lot

    the cheapest is $7

    How can you go wrong

    • If it doesn't hold air
      .

    • Don't want to waste time buying a mattress that takes too long to inflate, then go back and return, and try buying the next mattress up and so on… trying to avoid trial and error

      • inflate it up with a hairdryer (turn off the heat)

  • fwiw I have tried this one from kmart (my parents have it in the guest room), probably been about a month and its still quite inflated. I only had a quick nap on it and was surprisingly not terrible, actually supported my weight alright (90kg+ at the time).

    • Thanks how long did it take to Inflate/deflate?

Was it a 1 person job?

        • not sure it was already done up by the time i rocked up

        • its got a built in pump, my elderly dad did it by himself so id say yes a 1 man job

I've used a bunch of these over the years and they're fine. I'd avoid the ones with the built in hand pump though and get one of these instead: https://www.kmart.com.au/product/high-power-rechargeable-air…. Works great plugged in at home or using the car adapter when out car camping.

    • It's not a built in hand pump, it's built in electric

I have one, handy for the drive-ins and random times, and so much handier not having to try to find an inflator etc as it's all built in. Makes it easy to deflate as well

I have bought the inexpnsive single inflatable air-bed Kmart multiple times.
    they are not terrible.
the trick is to really tighten the air plug as that is the main source of leaks.

  • ive gotten the cheapie from ADLI, very similar to the cheap kmart one
use it to sleep in the kids room when they were sick
have a cheap air pump from kmart

depends what you are using it for (at home or on trips)
do u have access to electric air pump
what type of sleeper are you. I'm a zombie, i dont move, so i was fine, my brother in law is a roller and hated it, woke him up cause uneven when rolling

    • It's just for occasional 1 night of guest sleeping over. Our sofa isn't wide enough to sleep on, so need an air mattress

Have access to a normal power point no dramas, as it will be in living room

I have the $7 one, its okay. Not as good as a regular mattress of course, but my heavier friend slept on it without issue. I inflated it using my shop vac very quickly. You can blow it up with your mouth but it takes a long time. For $7 cant complain

      Thanks

      • No worries. Also for info, I used a scrap piece of foam I had lying around as a makeshift gasket. Then I just held the shopvac outlet onto the mattress and it inflated in like 20 seconds

  • Have had two Kmart single mattresses fail.

Original one had lasted quite well, so when it failed,
bought a replacement and then the replacement one failed, which had been used twice.

The kids don't it when it goes flat during the night.

  • I had a queen size one with a built in electric pump slept on it for almost a year (on a qb size base) was pretty good except if you rolled on to the edge the mattress would flip and dump me on the floor . you need to be careful not to overinflate as that will eventually rupture the seams . inflate to about 3/4 full and try it add a bit more air if needed

  • I've used a few kmart ones.

They are ok until they go flat.

  • I have the last one, $89. As air mattresses go, it’s light years in comfort from 20 years ago, no hitting the floor when laying down and you don’t get chucked off when the SO rolls over. Takes 4-6 minutes to inflate using mains power with the inbuilt pump. Recommend.

  • we have an intex one with built in pump, was about $50 on sale at aldi. Its probably 7-8 years old now and has been used maybe 30-40 times. Holds air overnight but 2nd night will need a quick top up.

SIL has the same one, maybe a year or 2 older and as far as I know theirs still holds air too.

Looks similar to the kmart one

  • $7.50 single mattress, used by a 100kg peon for 2.5 weeks before developing leak making product unusable, user probably over the rated weight of product. Too lazy to refund, threw in bin, environment - game over!

Must use an air pump to inflate or someone with special lips and incredible blowing power.

Was told comfy enough to sleep, and only needed top up of air every second night.
    Good Value.
    ps: it was Flocked

  • I have a few mattresses specifically for camping that i would not recommend for guests.
The $89 mattress you linked has a 4.8 star average review from 137 reviewers. That's a pretty good sample size in my book.

  • $18 one be perfect for a weekend away.
And when you realise you argue with the missus and that you don't like camping and tents are crap, you won't have wasted much money to find out and it goes in the bin.

Or just buy an exped megamat and save your marriage and sanity

I bought the $22 'flocked' Queen mattress about three weeks ago. We have used it twice and so far we are pretty happy with it. Comfortable. Retains firmness/hasn't leaked yet. Gets cold (that's probably all air mattresses I imagine). Not much data but thought I'd add that to the mix.
