Recommendation on Light Weight Laptop under $800 Pls

Hi guys :)

Im looking for a light weight laptop under 800 :) I will need for simple chrome browsers and simple tasks with words and power points. I will be carrying it around my backpack so lighter the better! I don't need it to be touch screen either.

Preferably smaller than 15inch laptop please

Any recommendation would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Much cheaper but refurb Surface Pro 5? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/719031

    • Cheaper is good :) why are refurbished laptops so cheap? I would like laptop to last for years. I currently have two lenovo thinkpads and one is lasting more than 10 years and other is going strong after 4 years!

This is a great price for a competent machine - but I wouldn't buy a Pro again
I don't like the flimsy stand and wobbly keyboard - others disagree

But on the same ebay seller there are a number of excellent refurb machines in the $600 odd range
Anything with an 8th gen chip and 8gb ram (16gb better) will run WIn 11 for years
        Pick one you like

  • An iPad with trackpad keyboard can be had for $800. You can get Chrome, Word, and PowerPoint for iSO. And it's easy to send finished files by email, or just store them in your OneDrive account. You'd need to tether your phone to it for wireless internet, or pay more for the wireless internet version. Word on iOS also live sync to autosaved documents just like the desktop version, so you can open and edit it at the same time someone else is editing it on their PC, making collaboration a lot easier.

Apple maybe release new iPad in a few weeks, I haven't been following the rumours too closely.

Jump on Gray's online search "Intel" or "AMD" plenty on there on auction nearly every night (important read description fully) even under $400 or more if your using it for lite work as you stated, 14/15inch Lenovo laptops I think 2 to 3 year old models can be had under $300 (includes warranty from grays also), I'm on my second one as 1st one ) had only 64gb emmc storage drive that couldn't be upgraded (as no m.2 or sata slots/connections) but was easily fixed had a portable bigger sized USB SSD drive connected/velcroed to it with Windows 11 boot on it, only paid $150 for the 1st one, these both are super thin and lite and certainly capable for programs like Word and Excel etc mind you only had 4gb of ram, well if your budget is $800 you'll surely score a much more powerful laptop but do you need to spend that much?

    • Such a great idea! My maximum budget is 800 so cheaper the better :) how do you find out how old the laptop is? Also, roughly how much shipping fee you think I'll have to pay for the delivery once I buy one from grays?
