This has to be close to an all time low ($1859.88) for the Olympus OM-D E-M1X body for genuine Australian stock from Amazon AU. Most of the resellers have them close to $3K and some grey importers are also selling sub-$2K. Apart from the newer OM-1 this has to be the most full featured m43 bodies on the market if you comfortable with the size and the weight. It has its niche for action, sports and birding photography.

Damn that's cheap! If I am not in Nikon already I'd be all over it

  • How much of an upgrade would this be from a D7200?

    • +1

The Nikon D7200 is a good DSLR with a very good sensor and it can handle most things very well, it has a large APS-C sized sensor compared to the smaller m43 sensor on the EM-1X. It depends on what type of photography you are interested in? If it is action and sports then the D7200 is not too bad.

The question that you have to ask yourself is if you invest in a new camera with interchangeable lens you are investing in a eco-system, that would mean to a large extent new lens and accessories which can get expensive.

Only 5 left but this is pretty niche so the mods will let it slide.

Olympus has priced themselves out of the market tbh

The EM1-X is an older model now, the new flagship is the OM-1 and even the EM1 MKIII has a lot of the same good features (hand-held Hi-Res mode, Live ND etc.) of the EM-1X but in a smaller package (albeit at a higher price even with current the VISA card promotion).

  • Pity it’s not $1800 - twice the duty free allowance into Australia. I could then use the TRS. Is there an automatic depreciation for the four weeks I’ll be away?

      I'll un-neg you.

Many years ago, I took a newly-purchased DSLR with me overseas. I asked the customs dude when I was leaving what the go was with coming back into the country. Because if I claimed the TRS when I left, then technically when I came back into the country it would be well over the concession allowance threshold, and assuming I did the right thing and declared it I'd have to pay. The customs guy said "It'll depreciate while you are away, so that by the time you return it'll be worth <exactly the amount that gets it under the threshold>".

  • Why the neg?

  • Genuinely good price. Just last week gassed with 25mm f1.2. My wallet says no :(

  • Price has gone up to $1,995.99.
