Telstra Prepaid Long Life Data Roll over - Is It Possible?

Hi all,

Telstra moved me off a grandfather simplicity plan 5 months ago, and placed me on a long life 6 month plan with 40gb data.

I basically use Telstra as a back up option when away from the CBD and travel (which hasn't happened in the last 6 months). So still got the 40gb.

Any tips on the best way to roll over the data? Call up/ chat etc?

  • Is It Possible?

    no

    • Concise!

Looks like I can go on a non long life plan and roll the data over. But will try the phone chat service first (I simply asked for some data attached to Long Life, they offered me 40Gb straight up at no cost).

  • They did the same to me, converted my Long Life plan to a Casual plan… I've been using the 6 month LL plan for years so I had a few hundred dollars worth of credit saved up, they converted the credit to a set amount of minutes, txt's, and data with a 12 month exp, kinda sucks, at least they didn't just delete all the credit like they did to me on another PP account a few years back..

(The Casual plan only included 300mb of data per 6-months so I'll be looking elsewhere when the credit expires)

    • Yeah I got the same. When I said the 300mb was not much, they gave me 40gb..

  • I pretty much had the same grandfathered Telstra plan, if I remember I use to keep the plan active by depositing $50 a year of course then I got $50 credit every year (which was part of the plan) which I never used the credit, long story short there was over 10 years of credit built up which once they decided to change the plan to there new plans (without any credit offer plan) they offered to give me all the credit as cash, so basically I never paid anything for this plan for over 10 years lol,.. of course I used the plan for other features why I mainly kept it,.. free subscription for the AFL app, free wifi at Telstra Wifi hotspots and also was able to receive calls and sms's, few other perks honestly can't remember 😊

Telstra has recently changed their prepaid plans. I was moved to Telstra Prepaid Casual earlier this year. There is some data included but not much. If you are after more data with long expiry I recommend you check out Telstra Prepaid Mobile. You get unlimited calls and texts as well as continuous data rollover and some international calls. You can get 28 day expiry, 6 month expiry or 12 month expiry depending on how much money you want to pay.

I hope this helps you. If you have any questions let me know and I will be more than happy to help you out.

    • They put me on Prepaid Casual, but gave me an extra 40gb data. Still got 99% of that left, but expires in two days.

Will be good to have it in 3 weeks time, if I can roll it over?

      That's expensive at $150 compared to the old $30 per 6-month Long-Life plan…

    • Sounds like Telstra Belong plans were data keeps rolling over, I think Telstra Belongs minimum plan is now $15 per month but 5gb of data with unlimited calls/sms
