The latest ASICS X Vivienne Westwood collaboration on the GEL-KAYANO 27 LTX takes inspiration from Westwood and (Malcolm) McLaren’s controversial 1974 collection ‘SEX’ – which challenged the status-quo, featuring provocative clothing; including rubber wear for the office, leather bondage, t-shirts with zips and holes and bold slogans. Inspired by this look, the custom GEL-KAYANO 27 LTX is constructed with an upper that is detailed with rubber stocking seams and a statement zip, presented in a translucent matte material, printed with the Westwood orb and ASICS details and finished with a neoprene inner sock, creating the look of rubber tights. Although not a running shoe, the midsole and outsole of the GEL- KAYANO 27 LTX keeps the same technologies found in the GEL-KAYANOTM 27, with advanced materials and construction such as GEL cushioning and Dynamic Duomax, which all function together as part of ASICS’ I.G.S (Impact Guidance System) Technology.
