Yeah but he ticked the associated box; he did the right thing.

All associated 'deals' are ads, after all.

Nah johnny is gonna chuck a defo at 3dmake

Careful, that kind of talk leads to the cops knocking down your front door.

    • +16

Why are you acting so fixated?

I'll see what I can do!

Nah, ONLY if printed on toilet paper - half price

Thanks! Been looking for a place to print the spool adapter for the Ozito blade trimmers. Got quotes here and Perth ranging from $60 to $189. $18 including express post here!

Would you mind linking to this? Want to see if it will fit my Ozito. Thanks!

Printed ScoMo but it came out hollow

  • Good site, looks like a decent range of printing options

i think the internet needs a dutton dagwood dog STL

Don't forget Scomo and the welder. Heck even Abbott and the onion!

    • nobody deserves a dagwood Dutton

  • If you wouldn't mind, could you tell me more about this startup and what the goals/idea/niche it's trying to fulfill? I've taken a look at what's there so far and I'm intrigued, but I want to know what the logic is behind it.

    • +4

its pretty easy… its Airtasker for 3D Printers.

    Good luck on the startup…

    My feedback:
    - there's a bug in the image upload; you can only upload PNGs and not JPGs.
    - this seems to be "commodifying" 3D printing; you can list your printer's brand & models but you can't add further descriptions if your printer (like mine's) is heavily modified eg. with auto-bed leveling
    - I think $/g is the worst way to calculate it; prints should be based on 3D model itself as some models may require tons of support (more PLA + electricity + time required) due to overhangs & that means final prints require post-processing.
    - shipping cost?

When does the $10 get sent?

    • I registered and added one of my printers on here (inactive for now).

It seems like a good idea but the market place is pretty empty. Whether it's just a newish startup or no one is really using it remains to be seen.

    • I think $/g is the worst way to calculate it; prints should be based on 3D model itself as some models may require tons of support (more PLA + electricity + time required) due to overhangs & that means final prints require post-processing.

You're right in that that rate does not capture complexity, but PLA + electricity + time is (IMO) relatively proportional with weight. More PLA = more weight. More electricity and time is usually due to more printing which usually = more PLA = more weight.

Post-processing certainly not covered, but you'd be able to capture most of that in a $/g rate (80/20 rule).

Disclaimer: never done any 3D printing.

    • These are really good points. I have posted some of my feedback as well.

    • Thanks for the feedback I'll pass it on!

  • A couple of suggestions:
    - Why allowing STL format as thumbnail file but not allowing JPG images?
    - Remove console log messages, or make them at least useful to yourselves, print objects properly instead of "[GraphQL error]: Message: Payment not setup!, Location: [object Object], Path: myBalance"
    - Payment Setup is very bugged, both "Setup Payment" and "Payment Set up" takes a long delay to redirect to Stripe integration, maybe add a spinner or similar indicators while the fetch task takes its time running in background
    - After a successful authentication with Stripe, your website seems to fail to handle the callback from Stripe (?)
    - In order to add a printer, the user needs to upload image, the user also needs to set up payment before being able to upload image, which means the previous step is blocking me

Also Q: How is the $10 paid? Is it a credit to my 3D Make account? Or is it a gift card?

    • Appreciate the feedback, I'll let my mate know ☺️

Hi, some feedback: can you add more options for printing materials ? I have a Dark grey color filament but you dont have an option for it, same with resin, I have glow in the dark resin but no option for it. Also i would like to add the brand of the filament i use and also description for the printers.

    thank you

    • +1

If you're adding things; also consider us makers who have 2d or 3d CNC machines too.

3d printing is cool and all, but if you want a gasket or something, cutting will always be a better option than addition.

For example; you can't print teflon or phenolic gaskets for intakes. :)

  • Placed an order a few days ago, first the printer couldn't access the file I had uploaded (I had marked it as private) then he gained access to it and asked for shipping costs which was already included in the order total, when letting him know this was included already he quickly cancelled the order. Some kinks to work out it seems, but pretty disappointing.

  • "The connection has timed out"

Still the same problem as in 2000 when startups did not set up their websites properly and as soon as they got some traffic, just crashed.

Nowadays it should be pretty easy to have an auto-scaling website …
