Wait until you find out that Yamaha make musical instruments.
Or that Peugeot make pepper grinders.

Except that Yamaha is good at both engines and instruments. Whereas Singer is not professional at anything anymore. More like an irrelevant brand.

Fair enough, I'll amend title. Major cities cause I can't be testing all suburbs out there

Plastic in the lip area is a no go for me

Sure the glass and metal are heat resistant… But not the plastic

This is why plastic kettles always have a strange taste

  • can't find what sort of metal base (the water boiling part) it uses…..

What is wrong with manufacturers installing insanely bright blue LEDs in everything. Worst invention ever.

    • +4

Blue LEDs use bipolar alternating glyptal-impregnated, cyanoethylated electricity to enhance the annular grillage coefficient of the water it boils.

      • +1

I have a colour-changing LED in my kettle. It starts out blue when the water is cold, and then progressively changes to green, yellow, orange, and finally red as the water boils. I was feeling smug until I saw your comment — now I desperately want to upgrade to a bipolar kettle!

Pfft I bet it can't even send notifications to your smartwatch via Google assistant

      • I thought it might have used Turbo Encabulator technology:

  • Professional water heaters must hate this device.

So this draws 2300W from a single point?
I'm no sparky, but isn't that a bit much for a single appliance?

    • +2

Not sure what you mean by that. Standard outlets are 10 amps in Australia, and we operate on 230 volts. Maximum wattage therefore will be 10 * 230 = 2300W. Plenty of other kettles and numerous other appliances operate at 2300W as well.

    • +1

      it is a big number

    • That's almost maximum for a standart power point (2400W for Aus).

      UPD
2300W for Aus, so that IS maximum.
However, 1.5mm cable can withstand more power so there is a margin of safety.

    • That's a perfectly safe current which most outlets are rated to handle. It only becomes an issue when you plug this kettle into an extension cord, along with other appliances, and then plug the extension cord into one wall outlet

It's pointless for kettles to trundle along at 1200W or whatever, since if you half the power you double the amount of time needed to boil water

      • It only becomes an issue when you plug this kettle into an extension cord, along with other appliances, and then plug the extension cord into one wall outlet

Dude then writes a Google review: "Poor quality Kettle makes my circuit breaker trip repeatedly when operated"

      • +1

It only becomes an issue when you plug this kettle into an extension cord, along with other appliances, and then plug the extension cord into one wall outlet

Power points usually don't have separated circuit breakers for each power point. All your kitchen power points belong to a single 16A circuit breaker. So even if your kettle and microwave and whatever else are plugged into different power points, when you turn it all on simultaneously the breaker will trip.

        • +1

Oh okay, makes sense. Our kitchen often has the microwave, kettle, and toaster (1000+2400+800 =4.2kW or 17.5A) running so we're probably very near the trip point haha. I can definitely hear the microwave pitch sagging by that point

        • That was my point, it's not like this appliance pulling 2300W is the only appliance on that circuit, it's likely at the very least switches be trippin', or in an older home, things get a little warm and dangerous?

I remember people saying that this website runs a lot of scam promos offering items at unrealistic prices purely to collect data and then simply cancels out the orders. Absolutely terrible thing and a site to avoid like the plague if that is true.

    • +1

Have ordered a few things from them (bargains of course) and never had a problem.
(Not to say they haven't done what you're saying.)
