Decent Display Port Cable

I am running a Nvidia 1030 driving a Dell 1920x1200 monitor through DVI. I am hodling for a RTX 3060 or RX 6600 or XT but they run DP.

Can you recommend a decent 2m DP Cable bearing in mind I may go 4K 60Hz later.

Every cable I see on Amazon has someone saying it is crap.

Thanks!

Pay little extra for a known brand UGREEN one and have peace of mind. It's a one-time purchase for 10 years.

    Sorted.

    • Thanks, that one has people saying it’s crap too! Probably Gerry!

I always buy any old cable and they always work fine, even at 4K 60hz. I also use DP to HDMI adapters for some of my displays, because my GPU only has like six DP on it.

I was told by Gerry, his Monster cables are the best. Time to visit HN, eh rocketman?

Can anyone enlighten me about "DP", my dirty mind is wandering in the wrong direction.

Just buy a DP 2.0 cable from ebay. I got mine off some random seller, gold plated connector. No issues at all. Cost about $20-ish.

I'd recommend checking out umart prices if there's one near you. I was looking for a HDMI cable recently and they were massively cheaper than everywhere else, with further discounts due to some sort of winter sale this week or something.

i had same issue, i thought cables shouldnt cost so much. ended up finding this one with 4.7 amazon rating:
    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07J2PGGFX/

[VESA Certified] Cable Matters 3m DisplayPort Cable 1.4, Support 8K 60Hz, 4K 144Hz (DisplayPort 1.4 Cable) with FreeSync, G-SYNC and HDR for Gaming Monitor, PC, RTX 3080/3090, RX 6800/6900 and More

worked very well thus far. apparently rated for 8K60.. which is overkill, but better overkill than not working. using with Dell U3818DW.

i'd prefer without the clips you press but couldnt find any without the clips.

The quality of different brand cable's won't be an issue at lengths of 2m. If you start hitting 5m and up, then you'll start running into signal loss issues at higher bandwidths.

My experience, which after checking the email order was 7 years back….

After digging through reviews online, and lots of dud ebay cables, I found these finally hold the signal perfectly for a 1440p 144hz monitor.

The general rule of thumb will still hold true, lower bandwidth and/or shorter cable will mean less signal issues. Running higher bandwidth and/or a longer cable, will mean you'll have to find a decent quality cable.
