Cheap Insured Shipping Forwarder from USA to Australia for Laptop Purchase?

Hi fellas, I'm looking to get a laptop the 2022 Asus G14 from USA ($1000 cheaper than buying it here), whole thing probably weigh 4-5kg I'm guessing.

I'm trying to decide on the best value USA-to-AU shipping forwarder to use which is safe to use for items like laptops. Haven't used a shipping forwarder before. Any suggestions or deals? Cheers.

What happens when something goes wrong and it's defective/dead on arrival or you need warranty X months later?

    • Yeah I thought about this, a few guys here have bought G14 2022 from USA and haven't run into any issues. I guess for warranty, I will pay for return shipping back via the same Shipping Forwarder? The price difference is $1000 between US and here which far outweighs the shipping costs ~$100/one-way, and Asus G14 build quality has been good so far.

      • As long you know you're taking the risk and potential added costs.

Also check if you'll need a new charger and make sure happy with keyboard layout which may differ.

Make sure you factor in taxes too as US prices do not include them. Any GST to be paid on this side?

i think we use the US layout as standard in Aus. every computer i've ever used has, including the school computers.

when the layout first switched to the UK version by mistake (must have used the hotkey or something), i was scratching my head thinking something broke, now it's the first thing i look for when i get the wrong symbol.

      • $100 for 5kg insured to value of a few thousand seems crazy cheap - what courier is this?

Well I can tell you Shipito don't actually insure the packages when you add the insurance option. They just pocket the extra and if you make a claim tell you the carrier denied the claim and break off any further communication on the matter. They just didn't expect me to actually check with the carrier. I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't the only one running that particular scam as the vast majority of the time nothing goes wrong.

Is that $1k cheaper by the time you pay GST (all freight forwards I'm aware of are collecting GST) and shipping costs? May not end up all that much of a saving to not have a local warranty.

I always try and ship direct these days as the days of freight forwarders being significantly cheaper are over but if I can't for whatever reason, the one I use is USGoBuy but have only used them a handful of times.

    Gst - $200
Shipping and handling - could be another $200

I'd just wait till a sale on the local stock

Didn't know they are back! Thanks.

    • Hey do you actually use Price USA recently? I used them before in 2013, and the site now is just doesn't look right.

      • I haven't used them recently so definitely do your due diligence before using them.

      • Whois links to this ABN

No Contact Us, no FAQ, no refund/return process

        Looks a bit suss

        • I tend to agree.

        • You miss the 19 different business names.

          • @foxmulder: Nope, didn't miss them :P

Funny thing is he has his home address linked with them

Reading reviews on bestbuy, a number of people faced screen issues. Not sure if its worth the risk for little savings after all fees and tax. You are better off waiting for the next wave of tech sales.

Lets share the usa link and au link.

We can tell if it is legit $1000 saving or not.
    I bet not.

Or just get other laptops. Plenty good deals here
