Best Van and Why?

What sort of work?
General delivery
Any of the general options should be fine then.
Most low effort post today?
What kind of van? What kind of work? What space is needed? What type of access? Any other requirements (power lift)? What engine preference? What budget? How many human seats? How many pet cages? Custom toolkit or equipment needs? Off road capability or city tradie? Weekend use?

Tossing up between:
Ford Transit
Renault Trafic
Toyota Hiace
Hyundai iLoadBasically they all look pretty similar in price and the load capacity would all be fine for my needs. The van would be used by my business to do deliveries and carry stock. Doesn't need any special power lift or anything like that.
Do any of these have any advantage in terms of servicing or ongoing costs that I should take into account?
Well in that case, my personal preference would be a reliable Hiace or better looking/feel Transit. You would need to ask dealers around you for an idea on servicing costs to help your decision making. I would probably then get a used one in decent condition rather than new if it's just a courier workhorse.
I'm leaning towards the Transit due to current availability. Hiace also appears like it would be more difficult to park with the slightly longer wheelbase over the other models. Will need to look into servicing costs.
@kerfuffle: My bad, I meant to say Trafic above!
@saltysalt: It’s old. Rebadged as mitsubishi express its 1 star ANCAP and it’s in runout. Unless you get a super crackin deal I’ll avoid renault trafic
@pao2x: Good to know
One with a doorbell so people don't come a knockin…
Don't forget curtains and good suspension.
Iveco earthcruiser
Perfect!
We had a Ford Transit Custom then traded that in for the Hyundai Staria.
The Hyundai is much more comfortable to drive hours in, no armrest though.
Do you think the iLoad would be similar or is the comfort due to it being a people mover rather than a van?
Iload is out staria is in. Passenger and cargo models are both staria
Old iLoad is not as good. The new Staria Load is way way better.
You need to give it a good test drive to see which you like more.
Renault Trafic, Mercedes Sprinter or Peugeot Expert for me
Thanks I'll check them out too.
Time for YOU to go test driving. Hyundai, Toyota are in the same ballpark reputation wise. Ford Transit has a good rep.
Unless you were considering a Chinese cheapie, then there’s not a lot between them and it need to be what YOU want.
Ergonomics (Ford Transit) hands down.
Drivetrain VW Transporter, TDI450 remapped (i have) it hammers and great fuel economy.Best Van and Why?
Has to be this !!!
work van not play…
Hiace is the best. It will also give you the best resale.
I drive a transit , great van. Can load full size pallets throught side door and rear door with forklift. Rear doors open fully. I will buy an electric transit when they become available in near future.
Thanks. Yeah electric for the next one in 5 years for sure!
The one with the sticker on it….If this vans arocking, dont bother knocking.
See what people in your same industry use
As a mechanic speaking avoid the Renault Trafic or any Renault for that matter. Hiace for the win in all aspects
HiAce because it's made by the same company as Camry.
