Kogan 34 Inch 144hz Ultrawide Monitor

https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-34-wqhd-curved-219-ultraw…

Simple question really, is this monitor any good?

All the reviews on the website seem to be very subjective and don't talk about anything like pixel response times and back-light bleed. Is this monitor worth it or should I just spend a little bit more and get one from a more reputable brand like dell when on sale?

Kogan so no. Get a Dell.

  • Similar to the Xiaomi 34in curve with all similar issues including dealing with Kogan :/

As above, get a Dell or get a Xiaomi 34in curve from eBay/Amazon, at least you have some buyer recourse!

  • The only reason I asked is bc I have a tech illiterate friend who bought a 1440p 32 inch 165hz monitor from kogan and said he had no complaints about it, but then again he didn't even know what pixel response time meant until I told him so he might not be the most reliable source.

You linked to a 100hz monitor. There's also no height adjustment or built in USB hub present

For $449 + postage it's not that great of a deal as you're getting inferior quality panel (B-grade reject) with possibly poor backlight uniformity and crappy pixel response times. In LCD panel construction, any unevenness in the pressure of the layered LCD panels may cause some areas to diffuse light differently from others, resulting in people finding the appearance of their display panel to lack evenness of colors.

$500~539 (with free delivery) will get you a good quality Dell VA gaming panel with a much better stand, IO and warranty.

And if you are chasing even higher refresh rates, the 160 hz LG 34WP60C-B retails for $549 with free shipping.

    • Any suggestions on a USC monitor that isn't the dell? As $650 feels a bit steep for it. I want to pass through my mouse from the monitor if possible. Not sure that the LG would enable that if I did displayport to USB c adaptor? Any insights would be great

  • I have bought a 55" Kogan TV and 27" WQHD 144hz Kogan Monitor years back.

    Both works, neither is great.

Both is Fake HDR, both have uneven backlight, other than that the TV is okay-ish. The Monitor though have a very off Gamma level and requires to use screen calibration utility in windows to tweak it even after setting the highest(1.6) gamma setting via monitor OSD.

Now the monitor served as a reminder to me as "Bargain hunting is not equal to buy cheap and crap product".

Luckily the monitor was purchased using Kogan Credit Card Bonus credit so I am not out of pocket at all…

I have been using a Kogan 34" ultrawide daily for the past 5 years (WFH + play). It does the job and has been very reliable. Mine was advertised at 100hz and can run at 100hz fine. Backlight is consistent. Overall it does what it says on the tin. I would buy one again.
