EGC are used in the order it was added to the app.

    • I removed my WISH Cards from WW Rewards wallet to save for optional elsewhere use and let these cards be used first. One can just add the Wishcard to the WW Money App to have on hand if needed.

    • I removed and added again (to make it second after the promo gift card) my wish GC, unfortunately when I paid at Woolies the promo GC was ignored - the Wish GC and Credit card were used. I assume the app still has a bug. So I'd recommend applying the promo GC manually so far.

    • +3

Be careful adding payment methods to the EDR app. We've had our first report of someones Everyday Pay being used to checkout, not just reward dollars anymore.

I don't trust Woolies system enough to link any payment methods.

  • Anyone know if you can stack this with 5% off through woollies mobile?

    • -1

I tried to stack with RAC 4%, but failed. Most likely it is not stackable.

  • Will it stack with ww mobile/ insurance card portal discounts?

  • where can i use these? Only in the supermarket or across Bigw, Caltex etc.?

    • I’m 99% sure you can only redeem this gift card at Woolworths.

I tried redeeming a Woolworths Supermarkets Promotional eGift Card at an EG location earlier today; the system declined and said that the available balance was $0.00. Considering I went to Woolworths not long after and could see that the gift card’s balance was not actually $0.00, it’s the system’s way of stopping you from redeeming this gift card at a non-participating retailer.

      • +1

Correct, Woolworths only. These are not "Wish Cards" which can be used in other Woolworths associated stores.

        • I assumed this was the case, but I still wanted to test this out, because:

          • It’s a relatively new type of gift card, so Woolworths Group may not have set it up correctly. (I mean, when Woolworths ran the initial trials of Everyday Pay last year, you could use it to purchase gift cards at Woolworths and use Woolworths or WISH gift cards as a payment method.)

          • When I checked the balance of a Woolworths Supermarkets Promotional eGift Card at BIG W a few days ago, the system actually returned the balance. This is unusual, because if you try to check the balance of a Dan Murphy’s gift card at BIG W (as an example), you’ll get a system error saying that the gift card is unknown.

I haven’t tested this on a purchase at another non-Woolworths business (e.g. BIG W, Dan Murphy’s), but I suspect it will not work there either.

      As if.

      Hook line sinker for neggers

  • -3

How come there's no 5% applied?

    • +1

      It's 5% added bonus, not 5% off

      • -2

        I know its' +5%
Now I can see it's added after payment.

Is anyone getting the "Something went wrong. Our system is temporarily unavailable." error?

    • +4

Also getting this when trying to use digital Hiver card (opened account and deposited funds today). Worked when using a standard bank issued Mastercard though.

      • +1

Got the same problem when trying with the digital Hiver card earlier, just tried again now and it went through- so maybe they've fixed it now.

        • +1

Same result for me unfortunately :( Might give it a try again tomorrow.

          • +2

@quokkamole: Yep maybe Hiver needs some more time to activate your card. I signed up for Hiver yesterday (7/8)

  • +2

Sweet. Using the special deal got me $210 value for $180 so basically 14% off

    • What special deal?

        • Not working for me when I try - the order goes through but I get a cancellation email from Woolies after a few minutes. Balance remains on the Special card with no record of the transaction.

Not sure if I'm messing something up or if they've patched things?

          • +3

@quokkamole: It sounds like Woolworths have realised your card is a prepaid card and are cancelling any orders using that card. What you described is exactly what is supposed to happen if you attempt to purchase a gift card using a prepaid card as a payment method. Someone confirmed this with Woolworths Group last year.

You can continue attempting to purchase a gift card through Woolworths’ online portal using that Special gift card, but I doubt you will get very far. The upshot is that you should be able to use that gift card to purchase any gift card at Coles or Woolworths…

            • +1

@WookieMonster: Ahh that makes sense. Thanks for the explanation!

If I can turn them into regular gift cards at Woolies/Coles that wouldn't be so bad.. fingers crossed

              • +2

@quokkamole: Count yourself unlucky! I think you’re the first case I have ever come across where Woolworths Group accepted the order and then turned around shortly after and cancelled the order.

You should be fine to redeem in-store at Coles or Woolworths, because:

                • Woolworths Group’s gift card portal uses a MCC of 5411. I think Special only use MCCs to decide whether you’re at a permitted merchant.

                • Coles and Woolworths use an MCC of 5411 for all in-store purchases (unless your in-store purchase also has EFTPOS cashout, in which case it changes to something else). In other words, as long as you’re not attempting EFTPOS cashout, you should be fine.

          • +1

@quokkamole: Maybe you can try again later today.

I used Coles Mastercard gift card last night and order got cancelled.

Tried again this morning and successfully bought the gift card.

        • Hey Wookie would you say they've patched this now and that it is probably not a good idea to buy the Latte Lover cards to buy these now?

          • +1

@richyeboi: I don’t think it’s been fully patched, but it’s definitely risky to now to use any Special gift card (including a Latte Lover gift card) as a payment method on the Woolworths Group gift card portal.

If you have a backup plan for redeeming a Latte Lover gift card, I would still buy the Latte Lover gift card and give it a go on the Woolworths Group gift card portal.

            • You should be okay redeeming it in-store at Coles or Woolworths, even for gift cards. Coles and Woolworths are very slow at implementing BIN checks (and they rarely implement BIN checks and rarely place restrictions on the redemption of prepaid cards) in their stores.

            • Alternatively, you have a gift card that you can spend at restaurants and cafes in your area!

          • @richyeboi: Looks like it doesn't work to buy Wollies Gift cards anymore :(

        • +2

Can confirm it was still working as of 11:09AM AEST

        • Can anyone confirm this is still working?
Tuesday night / Wednesday.. Cheers in advance

        • Doesn't work anymore :(
Can you use it at least in store?

          • @bob19: Yes you should be able to according to other comments

            • @BilboBargains: Thanks. Will try. Pitty they shut it for buying gift cards on their website.

  • Woolworth mobile 4% off can combine with this offer?

    • +2

      No.

The gift card in this deal is a Woolworths Supermarkets Promotional eGift Card, a special type of Woolworths Supermarkets eGift Card that was created for bonus value promotions only. It uses a unique gift card prefix (628000 902).

The Woolworths Supermarkets eGift Card sold at a 4% discount on the Woolworths Mobile partner portal you’re referring to is just a regular Woolworths Supermarkets eGift Card. It uses the standard Woolworths Supermarkets eGift Card prefixes (628000 711, 628000 721).

You can also only access the Woolworths Supermarkets Promotional eGift Card through their publicly-accessible gift card portal. If you go to the Woolworths Mobile partner portal and try to access the Woolworths Supermarkets Promotional eGift Card, you will be told to log out of your partner account and go back to the publicly-accessible gift card portal.

  • Great deal OP.. good way to use up my Special.com and Mastercard debit cards without too much value left.

  • +1

Payment fields are cancer doesn't work. It validates each number of cc

  • Anyone have tried with senior nsw 5% disc?
It doesn't say anything about +5% value, and with senior nsw you can only select WISH giftcard, and this promo seems to be related to WOOLWORTHS giftcard?

    • +1

No, and I wouldn't bother trying tbh.

Firstly, this deal's terms state that the offer excludes partner portals, of which the NSW Seniors Card is one.

Additonally, the gift card in this deal is a Woolworths Supermarkets Promotional eGift Card, a special type of Woolworths Supermarkets eGift Card that was created for bonus value promotions only. It uses a unique gift card prefix (628000 902).

The WISH eGift Card sold at a 5% discount on the NSW Seniors Card partner portal you’re referring to is just a regular WISH eGift Card. It uses the standard WISH eGift Card prefixes (628000 555).

You should also only be able to access the Woolworths Supermarkets Promotional eGift Card through their publicly-accessible gift card portal. I went to a different partner portal yesterday and tried to access the Woolworths Supermarkets Promotional eGift Card, but was told to log off my partner account first. If you go to the NSW Seniors Card partner portal and try to access the Woolworths Supermarkets Promotional eGift Card, you should be told to log out of your partner account and go back to the publicly-accessible gift card portal.

  • +2

Just a heads up, we've had our first report of unauthorised Everyday Pay use so I'd be wary of adding your gift card to the EDR app as a payment method. (Not talking about the Money app which isn't linked to an account, just local storage)

    • +3

Something about that story doesn't add up.

There's nothing to steal from the EDR app to be used in another transaction (eg there's no barcode in the app for you to steal). It's actually the opposite. You scan the payment terminal QR code using the app.

I think what happened was user error. They set up ED pay on a self check out terminal, thought it didn't work for some reason and left the machine without finishing the transaction, allowing the next person to come along, scan their groceries and select ED pay as the payment method. From the post:

But it didn't work this time either so didn't think much of it. I feel as though there must have been some kind of scanner on the eftpos machine or something that they were then able to use to pull my details? Similar to what they do on ATMs.

      • Yeh, not sure as I haven't used Everyday Pay but its pretty clear that they are accessing rewards accounts, even switching from Bank for Christmas to Spend now, bypassing 2FA somehow and they know the exact amount of rewards dollars available. There's a possibility that might extend to a Woolies account too.

Hopefully you're right and it was an isolated incident but Woolies security doesn't give me too much confidence right now.

        • but its pretty clear that they are accessing rewards accounts somehow, even switching from Bank for Christmas to Spend now, bypassing 2FA somehow and they know the exact amount of rewards dollars available. There's a possibility that might extend to a Woolies account too.

That's not what happened. Precisely the opposite:

Didn't even steal the rewards points as I have them saved for Christmas

That confirms for me it was user error rather than a hack.

Like leaving your bank card next to a self check out terminal. Some dishonest person buys groceries and pays for them by using the payment method you've left there.

          • @vetopower:

That's not what happened. Precisely the opposite

Not in this case but plenty of others in that thread. Though why would you bother messing with rewards and the effort of switching to Spend now anyway if you've already got a payment method available?

@SR129, any more details for us?

            • @bamzero:

Though why would you bother messing with rewards and the effort of switching to Spend now anyway if you've already got a payment method available?

Convenience. The ED Pay app allows me to seamlessly combine gift cards.

Indeed, it's actually safer than using the WW Money app because the Money app displays a barcode that could be photographed by an onlooker. No such risk with the ED Pay app.

The other risks mentioned in that thread apply to ED accounts, and therefore are risks regardless of whether or not you use the ED Pay app.

              • @vetopower: In the context of the thief I mean, if they can just pay with a linked card no need to switch rewards points over to spend them first..

                • @bamzero:

In the context of the thief I mean, if they can just pay with a linked card no need to switch rewards points over to spend them first..

                  Not sure what you're saying.

ED Pay is actually a safer way of paying by gift cards than using the Money app if you are competent and always complete your transaction.

                  • @vetopower:

That's not what happened. Precisely the opposite:

Didn't even steal the rewards points as I have them saved for Christmas

Just mean in regards to this, that the rewards dollars weren't used. If there was a linked payment card no need to bother with rewards dollars in that case.

Anyway, agree no chance of someone seeing you barcode, it's just Woolies account security as a whole I'm questioning. If there is a way for them to get in and switch rewards, then does that mean there is a way for them to log in and use your Everyday Pay account at the checkout. The 2FA doesn't seem to be foolproof.

                    • @bamzero:

If there is a way for them to get in and switch rewards, then does that mean there is a way for them to log in and use your Everyday Pay account at the checkout.

Not possible. Everyday Pay is linked to your phone. Have to manually add to other phones even when logged in.

The only thing that's been happening in that thread is that people have had their Everyday rewards account hacked. That's a completely different risk and could affect you regardless of how you pay — cash, card, gift cards, ED pay.

      • I think you might be on to something here.

I've now switched off eReceipts because I got confused last time on whether my ED Pay payment went through because a paper receipt didn't come out.

  • I just had it not work after it had worked before for 2 cards. I don't know if this is just too many purchases too frequently

    • +2

In my experience, if you place three orders in quick succession (i.e. on the same day) and the first two were fulfilled without any issues, the third order will require a manual review. Manual reviews only happen during the operating hours of the Woolworths Group gift card team (which I think is very similar to the operating hours of the gift card phone support line).

  • Great deal. Thanks OP

  • +1

Anyone else still getting "Something went wrong. Your payment has been unsuccessful at this time."? Tried two browsers with two different cards.

    • I am - very frustrating!

    • Same here.

    • Same here

  • Is the promotional 5% credit expiry date less than three years as allowed by the new gift card laws?

    • +2

The 5% credit is added on to your gift card. The gift cards don't expire.

  • Something went wrong. Our system is temporarily unavailable.
Your card hasn’t been charged. Please try again later.

    • I'm still getting this, anyone else had luck?

      • Got that over the past two days but now I'm getting:-

Something went wrong. We are unable to process your payment at this time.
Your card hasn’t been charged. Please try again later.

        • Still can't purchase but doesn't matter.

      • ya it's your card…. I found it works for some and not for others

  • +1

Successfully purchased some cards a few minutes ago.

This offer will run past the initial end date and will be available until stocks last as mentioned in the T&Cs

    • is it still available, trying purchasing but don't see the discount in cart?

      • +2

That is because this deal is not for a discounted Woolworths Supermarkets Promotional eGift Card. Instead, it is for a Woolworths Supermarkets Promotional eGift Card where its balance will be topped up with a 5% bonus when it is sent to you.

For example, if you pay $50 for a Woolworths Supermarkets Promotional eGift Card, the entire checkout process (including the payment screen) will show you’re purchasing a $50 gift card. However, when the gift card is actually sent to you via email, you will actually get a $52.50 gift card.

        • +1

          Thanks, just figured out

  • @OP is this deal still valid?
Or it expired as per T&C it says till 12/08/22?

    • The deal is still active, because the stock that Woolworths Group set aside for this deal has not yet been exhausted. An Associated commenter confirmed this yesterday.

I suggest you also re-read the terms of the offer:

Offer runs from 09:00 AEST 08/08/22 to 17:00 AEST 12/08/22 or while stocks last ( Offer Period).

The previous Woolworths Supermarkets Promotional eGift Card deal actually ended three days after the original offer end date, so if history is anything to go by, this deal will keep going until Monday.

You will know that this offer is over when Woolworths Group take down the webpage for this eGift Card.

    • Just bought one. Still working.

  • Looks like you can't use Special Coffee & Cafes (Latte Lover) Gift card to buy Wollies Gift cards anymore :(
Can it be used @ Woollies store at least?

  • Still active - all good!

  • Expired?
    Product banner shows 5% off
However, dont see any discount when add to cart or checkout.

    • +3

This deal is not for a discounted Woolworths Supermarkets Promotional eGift Card. Instead, it is for a Woolworths Supermarkets Promotional eGift Card where its balance will be topped up with a 5% bonus when it is sent to you.

For example, if you opt for a $50 Woolworths Supermarkets Promotional eGift Card, the entire checkout process (including the payment screen) will show you’re purchasing a $50 gift card. However, when the gift card is actually sent to you via email, you will actually get a $52.50 gift card.

Btw, the page for the Woolworths Supermarkets Promotional eGift Card is still active, which means this deal is still active.
