Nike Air Max 270 Popped Bubble

I bought a pair of Nikes for > $200 which was my first mistake. I have had them a little over 18 months but have not worn them out all that much having been in lockdown etc. I went out in them the other day and found that the air bubble had burst and it seems to be super common for this design.

I have tried to return them to the store that I bought them from with a receipt asking what can be done. I was turned away and saying they won't take them back. Has anyone here had any luck returning Nikes with a defect? I have learned my lesson and wont pay full price for sneakers again.

There is some viral video that Nike have a 2 year warranty in the US at least (when you flick from the US site to Australia they get a bit vague and the 2 years disappears).

Try hitting Nike up on their chat/phone and see if you can get a refund or Nike store credit.

I bought a pair for my son for Xmas and the same thing happened too. I contacted Nike direct and they sent out a prepaid sticker for me to send the shoes back to them. Full refund and a discount code for the next purchase. The only difference is that ours was only 5 months old. I would suggest contacting Nike direct.

    • Nice. I will see what Foot Locker will and won’t do yet. If they do not help me raise it with Nike I’ll just leave an honest couple of reviews.

        Deal with Nike directly

Yes, acl, retailer, blah blah, but sometimes better just to go direct to the source

  • Did you wear them to the gym?

    • Nah did not exercise in them. Just wore with smart casual gear for work etc.

  • Had bad experiences with nike quality, holes forming in the front near toes, air bubble popping. Don’t buy Nike anymore

  • I have returned a pair to Nike for same reason- popped airbubble. It was however after 6 months- Nike credited full amount.

Standard warranty/workmanship issue. Footlocker have no right to not accept returns for full refund.

Often it's either poor training or manager's a dick.

A way around this is to simply message Nike - they will often just say that warranty issues need to be returned to the point of purchase (i.e. Footlocker). Sometimes showing the person behind the counter that this is simply a refund for warranty (as per ACCC rules anyway) makes it easier for them to understand.

It's frustrating when the salesperson/manager takes it upon themselves to be a wall against what they see as a banding hordes of retail thieves such as yourselves who are returning defective footwear in the droves.

Sauce: I used to work at Nike. I have previously also worked in retail for 8 years. And I just returned a defective pair of Nike runner shoes to Rebel sport with no issues (and have done so at The Iconic as well).

Update is that after ~20x emails and half of them continuing to thank me for my patience I have been told I can take them back to a store because they are defective. My last email I gave them the old “I am submitting the complaint to NSW fair trading and I know my ACL rights.”.
