Dewalt 210mm 1850W Table Saw DWE7485-XE $686 (Was $795) @ Bunnings

320

Bunnings seems to be matching Amazon's price. But Amazon is on Temporary out of stock. If I recall, usual price is around $795.

In WA, only Balcatta had low stock, everywhere else was out of stock. However, I was able to price match it with Sydney Tools.

Currently Dewalt has a promo with a free Saw Stand, and Saw Blade through redemption until 30/09/2022
https://www.dewalt.com.au/support/promotions/onsite-offers

610mm right rip capacity
Maxiumum depth of cut - 65mm @ 90°
Easy & accurate quick bevel lock 0° to 45°
Rack & pinion fence for increased accuracy & ease of use
Designed for ultimate portability, and allowing easy transportation on-site or between locations, the DWE7485 weighs just 22kg, yet incorporates a 2-position fence that effortlessly accommodates sizeable timber such as plywood, with an impressive rip capacity of up to 622mm. This versatile table saw utilises a 210 x 30mm 24-tooth blade, and has the ability to handle 1200 x 2400mm cut sheet materials when operating without the fence. It also offers a 65mm depth of cut at 90° and 45mm at 45° for ripping applications.

Built for repetitive daily use in construction, second fix carpentry or woodworking applications, this state-of-the-art tool is robust and stable enough to handle the most demanding jobs, day in day out. Its powerful motor provides extensive durability, efficiency and performance to cut all timber types, without the risk of ‘bogging down’ when working with tougher construction materials.

  • Seems to be out of stock pretty much everywhere in QLD :(

  • I'm looking to get my first table saw for my workshop. Planning to make cutting boards, furniture and similar. What's the consensus on this one vs say the Makita, the Bosch or the Evolution in that price range?

    • +3

The fence and its adjustment on this Dewalt is its best feature, other than that I have the Evolution, which is overall a more capable machine, you just need to be more careful with fence adjustments.

      • Cheers, reckon I'll stick with the Evolution - seems quite highly rated in that price bracket

        • Don't trust the sponsored internet reviews. You need to replace the blade on the Evolution as it tears through material. I purchased one and the bolts were all loose and no matter what i did I couldn't align the machine. The maching was a hazard, I ended up returning it.

          • @Winston100s: Haven't looked at any "formal" reviews, really just comments on the various forums. Your comment is very useful - thank you.

            • +3

@Moondog: I bought the 745 some years back on sale (less than this) and this is hands down the BEST table saw at this price point. @khunaus is right, everyone raves about the fence and rightly so. It's not hard to adjust the saw to get very accurate and repeatable cuts.

The only negative are the mitre slots are't the best because of the layer of paint over the top. If you want to build jigs/sleds the first thing to do will be to pretty much scrape/sand down these slots as they are very sticky because of the paint.

Oh and the mitre guage is crap (but so is every one that comes as standard for these types of saws). You can make it just about barely usable by applying some electrical tape on the slide as it fits far too loosely in the slot.

I'd never heard of Evolution before but you only need to look at all the woodworking bloggers with small workspaces. What saw do you see in 90% of these sites?

EDIT: Just realised this model has a much smaller blade do a big step back for dewalt IMO

              • @gadget: Yeah it's really the smaller blade that will be an issue for me - I have some larger timber to work with so every inch counts. You're right generally though, a lot of the YouTube carpentry blokes have DeWalt saws. Of course the DeWalt stuff is also a bit cheaper in the US (and on sale more often) too.

                • +1

@Moondog: I've got a DeWalt but I think it's the next model up.

I paid about a it grand for it on on a trade day and got $250 credit to buy other stuff. So I bought blades and a big bottle of titebond 2.

I also make chopping boards and pair it with a helical thicknesser from timbecon (bought from black Friday sales)

I pAired it all with a ozito shopvac 1250w and the only thing I wouldn't recommend is the shopvac, it's just not powerful enough to suck all the dust.

I built my own sled for the table saw and my own push blocks.

Make sure you research kick back

My recommendation for the sled is to put safety reminders on top of the sled either side of the blade to stop you reaching in when the blade is going.

But your blades from Amazon, cheaper

                  Any questions pm me

                  • @itshammer: Cheers for all that, I think I'll wait and get the next model up when it's next on sale. Funny enough I was also looking at that a Ozito shop vac so your info is doubly useful!

                    • @Moondog: I think the model up is on sale now too… Stock fairly scarce though.

                      • @upandadam: Closest one in stock is 100km away and every chance that's a stock error anyway. Not that it matters, I'll have to save a bit more to get there anyway.

      • Can you elaborate on the fence adjustments?

        • +1

The Dewalt has a "Rack & pinion fence" meaning the front and back parts of the fence move in unison, so it should stay square on each move. The Evolution can still be as accurate, however front and back of the fence are not linked, so you have to take this into account when moving and locking the fence down to ensure you lock it down square.

Note a big deal if you know to look out for it.

          • @Khunaus: I had that machine, every time I tried to lock the fence as it locks only at the bottom, it would misalign the fence. At least the machine I had was a piece of junk, wouldn't recommend it to anyone even if they gave it away for free.

          • @Khunaus: Actually never having to worry about making sure the back and front of the fence are aligned is a big deal IMO.

            • @gadget: horses for courses…. dependent on what you're trying to do, what you need from a "hobby" machine and level of skill.

              • @Khunaus: Sure. But even with a hobby machine you still want cuts that are accurate and repeatable. I used to have a Triton 2000 before this. Built like a tank but would never be able to make the stuff that I do on this machine. Fortunately I managed to sell it to fund the deWalt.

                • @gadget: No argument there. you can get accuracy with the evolution, it just is not as quick as with the dewalt and you just need to know its quirks. I would say that the previous gen of this Dewalt was better then the Evolution, but since they reduced the blade size for this model even with the fence id choose the evolution.

well thats my 2 cents . enjoy either way.

                  • @Khunaus: That's a good point. My 745 was a full 10inch (254mm) blade. That's way bigger than the the one in this model although they claim to have a larger rip size which is also good but can be fixed with extensions on my saw.

      • Which brand model is that for the first time buyers/users?

    • +1

don’t go for a portable one like this unless you need it to be

    • +1

I have the 2000W dewalt table saw. I agonised over which table saw to buy. Dewalt makes the most accurate portable saw you can buy. Don't get the makita it is very poor and generally has bad reviews. Evolution seems to have good reviews but they can be a bit hit and miss with quality. Bosch has very good reviews but lacks the rack & pinion and in my opinion is the 2nd best saw you can get.

If the smaller blade works for you, then this is a very good price for dewalt and you can't go wrong with the quality.

BTW my saw had an issue with the fence. Dewalt sent me a replacement fence within 3 days.

  • +2

I have this and I have nothing to fault about it. Very good unit.

    Haven’t used any others though

    • +4

Yep, got one in my shed and its great. I've put through some very very hard jarrah and its chugged through it without an issue.

I found I kept catching my hand when adjusting the fence adjustment knob as it was too short so I design a 3d printed extension.

      https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4750863

      Hopefully someone finds it useful.

      • note that you have the 7491, which is the bigger blade and motor

        • Oops, so I do!

      • Never had this problem.

  • A lot of Dewalt power tools appear to be 15% off at Bunnings at the moment

  • Sydney tools may match the price https://sydneytools.com.au/search?p=1&q=DWE7485-XE

    • +1

I think the one for sale at Total tools has two t slots, the one at Bunnings and Sydney tools only has one. So would recommend checking at Total tools if they price match; https://www.totaltools.com.au/143684-dewalt-210mm-compact-ta…

Edit: the amazon one also has two t slots it seems; https://www.amazon.com.au/DEWALT-Portable-Lightweight-Diamet…

      • +1

All table saws have 2 mitre slots (they are not T slots for a start).

      • Mine from bunnings has two t slots

        • but ive just noticed it doesnt have the quick-remove insert that most youtube reviewers seem to have on theirs =(

    • Is it eligible for the battery?

      • I still feel a bit iffy about it, and don't know if someone else can comment on this. They told me that you can either Price Match or take the battery but not both. So even though spending over $500, doesn't matter. I just figured if you price matched it at Total Tools or got it from bunnings, you wouldn't get the battery anyway.

        • Which Sydney tools shop did you go to? A bit dodgy I reckon. "Spend $500 get a free battery (maybe)"

          • @kobeduck: Osborne Park in WA

          • @kobeduck: The battery is from redemption, so it's dewalt checking if your receipt is more than $500. They don't care if the shop price match, which the shop will have to cover.

            • @tor: Really? Got a link for the redemption? I thought it was at Sydney Tools only

        • I got the same response. Saw later that this is actually in their Terms and Conditions.

Items on promotion (including credit or bonus items). Our staff reserve the right to provide you either Best Prices for the item or the item on promotion. You cannot receive both.

          https://sydneytools.com.au/p/best-price-guarantee

    • I price matched it at Sydney tools, thought you just need to check you have a bunnings around you that has stock.

  • +1

Fantastic table saw with an exceptional fence. Can't go wrong at this price.

Just beware that it has a shorter arbour, so you won't be fitting regular dado stacks on this (some smaller dado stacks have been reported to work, but do your research first).

  • Are you eligible for the saw stand and blade if you buy through Amazon? I'm happy to wait…

    • Not 100% sure about the stand, as the stand was given when picking up the table from Sydney Tools. The saw blade we have to do online redemption, so I would assume it is the same if buying from Amazon?

    • Amazon isn't listed as a participating retailer on the Dewalt redemption website

      • +1

you can select 'Other' under the search bar. I guess won't know until someone tries, or calls Dewalt to clarify?

    • Bought mine off Amazon and you get the stand. Didn't get the blade

      • The stand comes with the delivery? The blade looks available for redemption on the guaranteed tough website

        • Amazon's didn't have the stand

    • Asked amazon support who confirmed the stand is included, however it is on backorder and they have no ETA

      • I tried confirming the same thing through support who couldn't confirm that it was included so cancelled.

  • Tarneit, sunshine and Craigieburn got stock in Victoria. Call them up before you head down there!

  • Bought this last year with the bonus stand and $100 store credit from Sydney Tools. Fantastic saw no play in the rack and pinion fence always a true cut and the measuring guide on the fence is also accurate.

  • Can you plug this in when you want to or is this battery only??

    Ok here is a challenger

Buy this, much bigger blade with 2 channels

    https://sydneytools.com.au/product/dewalt-dwe7491-xe-2000w-2…

You get a free stand and free hand saw via redemption

You also get a free 9ah battery

Battery you probably get $200 on FB for it

    Making the saw $1049

Hand saw you maybe $100 on FB

    Makes it $949

Just over $300 more for a much bigger and better saw.

If you're going to doing Cross cuts the two channels will make a huge difference

Same if you're ripping big things like old fence posts.

    Buy once buy right.

Also see if you can work the sales associate down buy $50 or to add some blades

Buy your blades from Amazon USA

      • +1

no stock, but if you could get a price match on that, then get the battery you'd be in luck

    • Went to do exactly this tonight and realised after I paid that the price has gone up and the battery promo wasn’t at Bunnings and expired last night after I planned my purchase.

Super bummed. Guess it’s going back tomorrow. Even drove 40 mins to another Bunnings to get it 😭

      • +1

damn dude thats not ideal :(

        • Will have to keep an eye out for another great deal as that was a ripper. Hope somebody managed to snag it up! Thanks for sharing it here.

  • Thanks OP, one less at Oakleigh =) Used SB GCs to save a further $9. Blade is valued at $99 so a good deal.

  • I know the deal is over but can anyone confirm if the model sold through bunnings has 2 t track / mitre slots? The image only shows the one, dewalts websites image is different and has two

    • Bought one and has two tracks not just the one
