Much better than Cadbury's for multiple reasons
- Cheaper
- Chocolate tastes better. Subjective, I know, but I feel Cadbury's has fallen off a cliff some years ago and now just tastes sickly sweet.
- Much more caramel filling. In other words, I feel Aldi are not desperately trying to rip me off by including less and less filling.
Bought a Choceur block recently and it felt "snappier" and lighter (i.e. higher quallity) than cadbury's…..cadbury's feels soft and dense to me.
Will still have both when in need.
The filling is cheaper than cocoa. Lol it’s a mutual benefit if you like more of it.
I've always thought the same also, and so never understood why they minimise the amount of filling.
Perhaps we are wrong and the filling is actually more expensive, overall.
Ok time to try the caramel.
The crunchy salted caramel one is also a diabetes attractor. It was $1.99 last couple of times I went to Aldi, on one of their super saver endcaps
The El Toro Macho Reserva wine is pretty good for the price. Better than that One Road wine people keep going on about that has absolutely nothing going on
It ends in 2 days, not starts in 2 days.
Has been on sale since 6th Jul.Different flavours I think - current one doesn’t include the dark orange. Or maybe it’s just a repeat of the same deal for another week? Anyway, good chocolate!
Could be for different states.
The dates I posted are for south east Melbourne.Actually looking closer, you could be right about the different flavour.

Didn't neg you, but the Choceur range was $2.99 for me a couple days ago (in NSW), so this is a new sale.
I swear Aldi chocolate tastes better. Cadbury just tastes “fake” in comparison.
Would being made in Germany have anything to do with the better taste?
chocolate tastes are adjusted for particular countries , some conch longer to make it smoother (finer particles) some add more milk to the milk chocolate …… love haighs but it’s veryy expensive …… european chocolate market is more competive with belgian, french swiss and germans competing for a market close to each other ……we just get aldi german chocolate cheap because aldi import lots of things directly ….german chocolate isn’t cheap outside of aldi store …..
Cadbury uses less cocoa solids, and uses vegetable oils as filler (palm oil too?).
Australians seem to accept Cadbury as some sort of benchmark, but it's actually very cheaply made in comparison to European brands. It just has years of marketing behind it.
Chocolate is supposed to be made with cocoa fat/butter, not vegetable oil. Thats how you get smooth tasteless chocolate, which is then loaded with sugar to cover up the lack of taste.
For me, the texture of Cadbury's standard chocolate is wrong. It's not smooth and creamy, regardless of what the advertising suggests. It also tastes like it has more sugar and less cocoa compared to competing brands.
I'm always confused with Aldi special buys periods, when are they active and how long? Why can’t they make it simple like coles and woolies, wed-wed?
Deliberately ambiguous?
https://www.aldi.com.au/en/groceries/super-savers/
On sale 27 July - 2 August
it’s the same?
except for the ones which are as available longer, which is better?
Yeah im confused too. My best guess from experience is some super savers are monthly and start on the first wed of the month. They are usually non fridge items or if they are fridge items, they are normally available at their normal price.
There are also weekly super savers (usually listed first on the app) they are usually fridge items and are not normally available in store.
Wed-Tue*
To avoid confusion. ALDI super savers (program for their everyday items) go on sale on the first Wednesday of every month and end on the first Tuesday of the following month. They are monthly.
The only exception are fresh meat/fish which follow a fortnightly rotation (Wednesday to Tuesday) and fruit/veg which I am not sure about.
Super savers are different to the middle aisle specials which I understand to be fortnightly.
Must be last day for $2 salted caramel flavour so better stock up on it today. I glad it's only $2 for a couple of weeks, too addictive. Lol
Inflation is helping save lives. It really doesn’t get the recognition it deserves
no more chocolate in our house. If you do not buy it. you wont eat it.
Sugar is a dangerous drug, to be sure. Right up there with caffeine, alcohol, and OzBargain
Ozbargain is the worst by far, I'm totally addicted to it. Lol
C'mon aldi make the fruit and nut on special too!
For me its their Choceur dark chocolate with either hazelnuts or almonds, they ARE THE BEST !!!
Aldi's Choceur seriously tastes great. It's cheap and good, which is a rare combination. So much better than what Cadbury pumps out for double the price.
RIP Moser Roth white chocolate mousse 😢🪦
Beware - don't buy the caramel, it's seriously addictive.
