Lowest price according to the camels
Good reviews.. Been watching this kit for a while waiting for a drop..
Thanks, Bunsen. Got one. Not amazingly cheap, but price is low enough to snag it if you're in the market for one.
For those who aren't familiar, this is a kit that adapts your impact drill to drill normal screws, hexhead tek screws, etc. into hard woods and thin steel. If you've got colorbond steel fence sheets, or a lot of timber that needs to be screwed together, then these impact bits are a good all-rounder starter kit.
Don't be surprised if you need to buy another bit or two for yourself. I bought a similar Milwaukee kit for work, but it wouldn't fit our hexhead tek screws (metric vs imperial maybe?), so I had to buy another bit for them. A single bit is cheap enough though.
cheers,
btw, tek bits are normally 3/8" or 5/16" socket drivers, usually 10mm & 8mm fit them fine, unlesss they were either Gal coated too thick or they had S/S caps on them..?
I don't recall the details, just that I had to buy another bit that would fit our tek screws.
as a ryobi and makita user, i am wondering if they (ryobi and makita) have better offers in terms price/quality.
Just for chores around the house - should I get this or the 91 piece BOSCH set for $40($56 then 25% off right now) https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B00GGKMNTO?th=1
The Bosch prices are a joke. They put prices right up then add voucher. Got this set for $19 a while back. It is very average in quality but if you want some bits to do random jobs and you don't use them often it is probably a better choice. I would wait for it to go on sale properly tho
Nice find.
It's never been that price on camels or this site…
didn't even realise I had bought it. was 2019
sorry was 24.88. I had a $5 voucher to get it there
the set isn't great but fine for basic DIY if not used heaps
@slipperypete: For 30+% more than you claimed.
I didn't dispute that you bought it, only that it was ever available for $19. As you've shown. Cheers…
The impact set won't be well suited for home gamer - many of the bits are quite specific to construction work (e.g. square drive).
The Bosch set is an all rounder, weak point will probably be the drills, and as mentioned is overpriced. Bunnings would have similar sets for the $20 or less. One picked at random, https://www.bunnings.com.au/craftright-51-piece-screwdriver-…
As for drills, I've had very good experiences with the M35 cobalt drill bits from aliexpress, just search "M35 drill bit set" and you'll find plenty of sets for under $20. They do contain cobalt based on spark test, they have split point grinds which means they are less likely to wander when starting. Add a pack of 10x 2.5mm ones for pilot holes.
You might end up spending close to the $40 piecing it together anyway, but you'll end up with a much better tools.
I've tried some of the Chinese cobalt bits. Very sharp and nice to use when drilling metal plate, colourbond sheets etc, but much more brittle than the HSS bits. Keep 'em straight boys.
It doesn't have hex which is quite common. Everything from IKEA to bikes uses hex. Not that I'd use an impact driver on a bike but you can use a 1/4" ratchet or similar.
Don't think I'd dare use an impact driver on IKEA furniture either.
I do it all the time. Just don't use any uggas and you're totally fine.
Thanks mate. Grabbed one
Is this BOSCH set better with 20% off?

Would be interested in knowing this too-Amazon reviews on DeWalt vary from good to rubbish and no reviews on this Bosch set (just on companion set)
(added on edit) AHA many reviews of the Bosch on German Amazon conclude home not pro quality

Same price at Sydney tools to collect if its easier for anyone, they also have some other bit sets from Dewalt on offer with differing driver bits.
