Melbourne: Printing Notes/Documents/Scans

Hey guys,

I'm looking to print off these notes which are a couple of hundred pages. I don't mind if it's black and white as long as it's legible. Any Melbourners have good cheap printing shops they recommend, opposed to Officeworks?

Thanks guys,
Happy Bargaining.

Sorry the way I read it was you wanted to print notes as in banknotes……

That said a cheap $39 printer with a ream of paper could be a cheap alternative like this deal

I wonder if that's actually cheaper. Because i have a printer and it costs me around $15 dollars for a sliver of an ink cartridge. If i print out $20 dollar notes and hope the guys at officeworks accepts it then maybe that might be a better bargain.

In all seriousness though, do you think it's better to just buy an ink cartridge and paper. I can't tell how much printing is in OW because i can't connect to their site for some reason.

4c a copy is what I saw for 1-500 copies (PLUS the 10c!!! to put it on the "glass" - I would guess thats one time only "flagfall")

To make things cheaper you can get cheaper refills on many printers - one of many sites is inkme.com.au

I have a continuous ink refill system in my "expensive" $200 inkjet printer thats now 4 years old, I have used over 125ml of each colour and about 500ml of black, and it still prints wonderfully and the only time I have ever used manfacturers ink was when I bought it and was waiting for the refill system.

However for most while it can be a little messy (use gloves) refilling existing cartridges saves a lot of money and you have to be extremely unlucky for this to cause any issue with your printer. Most come with instructions.

Initially go with the more expensive local suppliers, then as time goes on and you are happy you can experiment on even cheaper suppliers (its a choice) One or two cheap refills means you save enough to buy a new printer should you ever be unlucky.

When buying a printer check the refill sites to see which ones can be refilled. Often latest models take a little time for refills to be available - to do with chips in the cartridges sensing when ink has run out, and the ability to fool or by pass these.

Thanks for the advice Pete! Appreciate it, will certainly give the refills a try.

  • i print uni notes all the time. depends. if you all the all legit type, then just go officeworks. if you can live with a compatible ink, like i am using, its way cheaper. i bought my compatible ink for around 40 bucks for 2.6k pages. bought a carton of paper for 19 dollars.

    1 carton = 2500 paper = 0.00798 per page
    40 bucks for 2.6k pages = 0.01538 per page.
add them thats 0.0233646 dollar per page.
opposed to 8cents for small amount and 4 cents for huge amount.
    500 * 0.08 = 40 dollar
    500 * 0.04 = 20
    500 * 0.0233646 = 11.6823

and the upside, you can print them anytime you want too.
