I am after a cheap desktop pc, complete desktop or just a bundle (cpu + mobo +- ram).
Something just to tide me over until the intel gen13 or AMD 6xxx series is released (and prices stabilise, so into 2023).
Prefer intel gen 10 (edit: gen 8) or newer, or AMD 3xxx or newer. I prefer mATX but ATX considered.
Does not need a GPU as I will get a deal off OzB, so I can do a little 1080p gaming.
PC can be new or refurb or second hand.
My backup plan, if this fails, is to buy a i3 12100 + mobo bundle new for $249 from shopping express and sell when I upgrade.
No budget, just cheap and value for money. In Sydney.

ps: Gumtree prices are crap. I cannot signup for Facebook (marketplace) as it automatically suspends my account unless I prostitute my phone number to it. Haven't used ebay in over 10 years.
If you want minimal losses when selling off your hardware, the smartest purchase would be a refurbished ex-corporate desktop PC like an Optiplex, HP Prodesk, Acer Veriton et cetera.
Older refurb desktops have basically depreciated to the point where they are unlikely to have significant value drops when you decide to sell them.
If you have your eyes on Intel Raptor lake you might as well take the plunge and build yourself an Alder Lake desktop with the lowest tier Core i3 as an interim processor.
The upcoming 13th-gen Raptor Lake CPUs will use the same LGA1700 CPU socket used by Alder Lake, so you can just update BIOS, drop in a new CPU and the only thing you'd need to sell is your Core i3.
