Why does everything in Australia needs to be complicated and confusing
Quiz seems to be broken and I'm unsure even if completing a quiz is doing anything server side. For me, I've completed all three quizzes. However, I've tried doing the quiz in multiple browsers (at different locations) and when I click "Check My Global Ranking" it makes me enter my full details again (Name, DOB, Email) etc. I do this and it tells me I've completed 0 Quizzes and 0% correct answers. I completed this weeks quiz (Third Quiz I've completed). Then it says I've completed 1 Quiz.
I then went home, logged onto my home computer and it let's me do the third quiz again as though I never completed it. I then thought, what if I clear my cache for the website and check my global ranking again? It then said after clearing my cache on my home computer (Where I completed the previous 2 quizzes) that I had 0 quizzes completed and had not completed the third quiz. It then let me re-take the third quiz and said I had completed 1 quiz at my new correct answer percentage.
This makes me think the quizzes are browser side rather than server side as it let's me "Check My Global Ranking" in every browser I own and says I have played 0 Quizzes and allows me to re-do this weeks quiz.
Would be great to see my old ranking and to even know that completing a quiz is being registered towards the weekly prize/grand prize.
Anyone else having this issue and know if anything is being registered server side or if I'm wasting my time entering each week?
It says your score will be inaccurate if you clear your cache or use a different browser. But all your quizzes will still be recorded. From the "my score is incorrect? " on the results page
Due to our commitment to data privacy, we limit the amount of data that we collect.
The quiz results shown won't be an accurate reflection of your results if you: CLEAR YOUR CACHE, USE A DIFFERENT BROWSER or USE A DIFFERENT DEVICE.
No stress! If you've played each quiz and entered your details, this won't affect your chance to win
I will only believe what you say when I win my 24 Cases of Carlton Dry Beer
This was recently added to their competition website after my above post. It is confusing how Carlton say they are not keeping our data/number of quizzes entered and score for data privacy issues. However, they email me each week to tell me a new quiz is available, meaning they have kept my email address. If they have kept my email address, surely they could tie my score and number of quizzes to my email address and delete all other information? Plus why ask for my name, number, postcode etc if they don't keep it on file for the purpose of the competition. Like, if I was to win, don't they need to have my name, age, number on file so they can legally verify who I am and that I'm over 18 and even eligible to enter the competition?
Plus, most competitions include in their T&C's that they will delete x stored information from their data base after the competition has ended and a winner has been confirmed.
So it is nice that Carlton is trying to keep privacy in their minds, but it legit makes no sense to have a global ranking feature and to tell people to win the major prize they need to have completed every quiz when nowhere does it confirm that your entry has gone through. Yes it shows your score and global ranking if you don't clear your cache or use a different browser… but how does this prove it has gone through if they don't store your entry? Also, there is no way to check how many quizzes you've actually entered (Would be good to know if I accidentally missed a week, I think I've got them all but can't be certain).
Overall, it's nice they are thinking of privacy but I'm sure there would be ways to keep minimal information and still make the Global Ranking work properly to know the number of quizzes we've entered, our score and it would be nice to know how we rank to the rest of the entrants.
