    Im a golfer.

These will work fine as a first set for the average player. Later you would probably upgrade the driver and putter.

Good enough deal. They arent super cheap though, i've seen similar lower, but a good price.

    • Whats a good driver?

Not leclerc. He keeps crashing when in the lead

      • i like Taylormade, but you should always get fitted.

        • Oh damn, those are super nice.

    • i wouldn't recommend this for an average player, i would recommend this for no one really, lol. maybe for a beginner with money burning a hole in there pocket.
i would recommend that you get a cheap used set, then upgrade as you go.

being a golfer means nothing. scratch golfer with small blades and a 36 handicap golfer playing with oversized cavity backs are both golfers, but yet they play extremely different equipment.

      • What would you recommend for a beginner who has never set foot on a gold course before and plans on playing on weekends, occasionally? I am happy to spend up to $1000.

        • I'd go to a Drummond Golf store if you have one nearby and look at runout sets. You can even try them out on the simulator and see if they feel okay for you

        • I got the Wilson Profile SGI around 3 months ago and love it. Great entry level, brand new set that is easy to play with. I would start with something cheaper or a smaller set then move up to bigger and more expensive brand/clubs. That way you can spend around $400-500 on your first set, get comfortable with the game and then see how you progress. Going all out for 1000+ now is too early in my opinion, especially for casual players. I play 1-2 times a week with my Wilson and they serve me well.

  • this vs Wilson Profile SGI $399, which one is a bigger bargain?

neither, just buy used clubs until you're good enough to buy new.

    • I'm a beginner and got Wilson Profile SGI for around $400 3 months ago and I enjoy them. Looking for good second hand clubs takes time and effort and I wanted to start playing soon, so I bought these and they have been perfect. Comes with the full set including the bag which is reassuring, rather than looking through gumtree for half rusted sets for 100$ cheaper and mind you, most of the second hand sets are 20+ years old. The set is reliable, no issues with them and would recommend to any beginner. When I plan to upgrade, I'll just go one-by-one starting with the driver. Also I really enjoy the putter, its less forgiving but feels and putts like an expensive one. Hope that helps!

  • Good price for new if you're just starting out! Sure you could buy used, but you won't know what you're getting and there are plenty of fakes out there. By the way, a pro golfer would absolutely dominate with these clubs. Don't fall for the marketing and just buy the best. Any club will work

  • Is the left handed set available?

  • Hey guys! Looking to start out with my first set as a complete novice and I am not too confident in shopping around for a second-hand set - would you guys recommend either of these?

Refer to my above comment but I was in your position and was considering getting what you were looking at but decided to go with the Wilson Profile SGI. I got it online for about $400 on sale. I really enjoy the clubs, they feel and play great for a reasonable price. Golf is inherently an expensive sport but I would suggest starting at Wilson or similar, then moving up to better Callaway's one-by-one in the future. EG: buy a better driver after you get comfortable in the sport. Keep in mind that the Callaway set you are looking at is their entry level, so not their best. I would hold out on the big brands, go Wilson or similar for now then upgrade slowly as you get comfortable.
