Best Air Fryer in 2022

I'm looking for an air fryer to buy in the next few days. I'm leaning towards one of the Philips XXL range - expensive but look like great products.

Any other recommendations?

Bought the Germanica from Coles last year for $49 when it was on clearance. Worked so well that we've stopped using the Philips Air Fryer.

    • That's only 26L though so many not suit OzBargainers with families.

    • How many litres was that one?

I have two of the Philips XXL, they are fantastic.

We have had the HD9650/93 for about 15 months. Gets used 4-5 times a week and it's been good. Have not used any others to compare to though

    things to consider
is this a air frying fad? do you go through phases like that, like do you havea pressure cooker, slow cooker, blender etc sitting in the kitchen not getting used
do u have a oven and do u use it much
    microwave?
how much room do you have in the kitchen
are you the Instagram must look good person, or just care it works!

you could consider getting a cheap kmart one and testing whether you like it or not
    we got a kmart one
its works, we use it alot and now got a better one

we have a pressure cooker, blender etc that just sit there (lucky they were gifts and cheap ones)

I got all those but getting a air frying is like feeling of getting a microwave decades ago. It can't do everything but certainly save time compare to most basic ovenable/frying items.

Based on all the review from people and online, Philips is the best, its something to do with the air flow compared to other brands.

Then I bought cheap one from Costco , just to try it out. I thought of return it, if it didn't work. Now year later, I'm still using the Costco cheap one. lol

    • We use most of the small appliances we have - bread maker 4-5 times a week. Sous Vide 2-3 times a month. Thermomix - all the time. Don't have a blender or a pressure cooker.

The air fryer is something I've wanted for a while - and now my wife is onboard. I'd prefer an Anova oven but don't have the space. All appliances, apart from the kettle and coffee machine are kept in cupboards and not on the worktop. I don't want to get a cheap one and then upgrade, I just want to get the right one first and keep it.

bread maker 4-5 times a week

        Thats a lot of bread!

        • +1

We rarely buy bread and just make it ourselves - it's cheaper and tastes better.

Our Panasonic breadmaker is one of the best small appliances we've ever bought.

          • @R4: sorry to Necro, how much does a general loaf cost you to make? Thining of making bread myself as the spelt loaf i get from bakers delight is starting to get ridiculous (almost $7/loaf) figured surely I cna make this cheaper myself

            • +1

@ONEMariachi: I reckon the bog standard normal loaf we make is $1.00 - $1.20. If you buy your spelt flour in bulk it shouldn't cost you more than a couple of bucks a loaf.

    • We use our Instantpot a lot. Porridge, stews, Yoghurt, soups. Etc.

The Vitamix is for smoothies, juices; so daily when it isn’t Winter

The Magimix is used, at least, three times a week for veggie prep.

We went the cheapie route for the Air Fryer and, probably, right. We use it for frozen fish, reheating pizza, etc.

When we got the kitchen dine we got extra deep cupboards. It keeps our, major, appliances on the bench top so they are just pulled forward when required. It means you use them a lot more.

Philips XXL is coming around $250. Not expensive for the quality.

  • I got the twin air fryer from kmart about 6 months ago for $129 and I love it.
It's not just for frozen food, I cook steaks, chicken and so much more in this and it always tastes amazing.

  • I ended up getting the Philips XXL Digital Smart from The Good Guys. It was stickered at $579 but I got them to beat TGG Commercial price of $539 ($535). With a $50 gift card (it was actually a gift so no cost to me) it came out at $485. There's currently a Philips $100 cashback offer so final price is $385. A bit pricey I guess for an air fryer but it gets great reviews.

    • can you stack meat on top of each other? Do you need to give them a shake every now and then? Is it easy to clean and does it take up a lot of bench space? I am used to the airfryer with trays but i gone through 2 in 2 years, maybe time to get a philips….

This is the air fryer I bought - https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kitchen-couture-30-litre-air-fr… - actually, mine was a Kogan brand, but it looks like they don't make it anymore; but this is its twin, I paid $170 for my Kogan one when it was on special. It use this air fryer everyday & I love this thing; I was looking for the fuse to turn the oven off, but it is attached to the stove top elements. The best part is this thing fits a full pizza from the supermarket in it, I just add extra toppings & in it goes for 8-10 mins. I just use the rack with a pizza tray that has holes in it (got a drill?) & it also comes with a cage that is recessed for my chips. Cut the spuds up, wash in the water, put in the cage, put cage over sink, let spuds dry, spray with olive oil (that's why it is over the sink, it just fits perfectly in the sink profile) set the air fryer on chips & turn the timer down to 15mins then pre-heat, place in air fryer, take out chips & put in sink recess, carefully turnout chips so the thing doesn't fall into the sink, spray with oil & finsh off chips for 5 to 10 mins; easy eh. I have yet to use the roast tray, you know, the flat tray; I just use the recess cage & wire rack. The only thing you have to check is to make sure to empty the bottom tray a lot, but that is easy; you can eaither use a spoon & scoop up the solid fat or run the hot wate in the sink; it is your choice, or do both. & my arthritic fingers r now sore

Surprised so many people happy with the mini-oven style units with racks, the best thing about the type with the pull out basket is being able to throw it in the dishwasher.

    • you can throw all the oven bits in the dishwasher, just not the actual box unit. Can even take the inner glass panel off the door if you're keen. 30 second wipe down of the actual electronic bit after use and all is good. I got mine to replace a pull out one cause the inner coating came off in the dishwasher…

  • I have a philips XXL. really happy with it. you get what you pay for, and the results are always good.

  • I got a Kmart one that says it's also an oven (interim while waiting for a new actual oven). Don't trust the oven mode, its just an airfryer that burns things, but it is a great air fryer
