  • I went to America, bought one off eBay and brought it back with me. Took about a week to arrive.

    • did you mean it took a week to arrive to you in america…or you're referring to vpn-ing to america (?) and ordering it to be shipped via ebay to you in Aus…

      • One week to arrive from the seller to my place in America. Seller used the cheapest UPS shipping method.

        • dang

can you confirm its everything its hyped up to be (and more?!)

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Definitely can confirm. I always rolled my eyes when people talked about how good the Steam Controller's touchpads and gyro were, but they do legit make FPS and other mouse-reliant games playable.

Performance-wise, very pleased. The APU is incredibly efficient - for 2D games I've seen the APU's power usage go under 1 watt. Older 3D games at around 5 watts, and I can get 40 FPS in Elden Ring at 15 watts.

Proton compatibility hasn't been an issue for me - my library officially shows 23% (1000+) of my games are supported, but only five or so of the untested games I've tried so far don't run.

Only thing that really lets it down is the storage - shaders and proton compatibility consume a ridiculous amount of space. I work around it with the microSD card, which does load games decently fast.

            • @veetor: bloody hell that was what i was afraid of, now i definitely still want one

@Jimothy Wongingtons: You might want to consider the GPD Win Max 2, AYN Loki, Aya Neo 2 Geek or AOKZOE A1 - they should be coming out next quarter and all use the 6800U, which has better performance at 15+ watts. I suspect they'll all release long before Valve does a deal with EB to sell marked up Decks here. I've pre-ordered a Win Max 2 as a desktop replacement/portable gaming machine.

                • @veetor:

                  Win Max 2

                  via indiegogo?

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Yes. GPD has a history of delivering, so I wouldn't worry about them taking the money and running. Only issue with these Chinese manufacturers is the aftermarket support. People have reported months waiting on RMAs and I personally have been in a situation where GPD couldn't send me replacement parts to fix a trigger because they just didn't have them.

                • @veetor: 11+ watts, actually.
