Classic bait-and-switch on the reviews. Original listing was for a different hub it seems.

Super common, basically people/companies making millions off doing this. Stealing reviews, sabotaging others, selling junk.

      Fun read below.

I think it's because there are different devices set as variations on the same listing. So the reviews are mixed for all the products.
It's not technically a bait-and-switch, but the reviews are not just for the product being shown.

      • +2

You'd think you'd easily be able to filter reviews to just the 3-in-1 Red adapter. But no, that would be too hard for Amazon.

It's almost like it's not in Amazon's interest to make things clearer…

Hi Rep, is this a certified Nintendo product or a fake?

    • +2

It's been 12hrs & no reply so I can only assume this is not certified.
Will have to neg because fake items aren't allowed to be posted on Ozbargain.

    • Hi,

It just a USB C Hub, 4k@60Hz, compatible with Switch

Wow… This has to be a breach of copyright. Nintendo are ruthless with copyright protections and I cant see them saying that this is ok.

Negging because this is obviously using the logo and colouring of another company to sell their product. 100% this would be considered copyright infringement.

    • so this is not a genuine nintendo switch product?

        What do you reckon…?

      • Even it is a genuine switch product, there's no way nintendo will even allow to sell their logo branded merchandise as cheap as over $10, not even a chance for clearance items.

[I'm not associated with the product/seller]

Does this mean you'd otherwise +ve vote the post if the product didn't have the fake branding? I just have a weak belief that the +/- should be for the product itself and not the marketing strategies (cough morals) of the product. However, I'd likely -ve vote if Hitler or other posted something, so I see where you're coming from.

No. They are unrelated issues. I am looking for a USB-C hub and that's is what bought me here. I also own a Nintendo Switch and like buying the latest bits and pieces for it and I only buy genuine or "Made for Switch" officially licensed products. This is neither.

        I just have a weak belief that…

Cool. I have a strong belief that the marketing of a product using the IP of another more reputable company has a direct correlation to the product itself. It tells me, without this "knock off" marketing, it would otherwise be a piece of shit product and they are relying on customer nativity, gullibility or ambivalence to sell something that is otherwise trash.

As for negging, I felt this fell within the guidlines set out where I think there is an "issue with the retailer" (selling goods make to look like a Nintendo product) and I have an "issue with the product", that being… it's relying on looking like it is a genuine Nintendo product, when it isnt.

        • Valid points. Was just wondering.

I've bought it at $13.93, with the aim of hooking it up to a "Chromecast with Google TV" to allow for USB inputs (dongles for controllers, possibly extra storage in the future). I've a Nintendo Switch laying around as well but most likely won't "test" this on it. I'll report on it's functionality if I ever (stupidly?) decide to.

          • @HcNguyen111: Ok, so it works with a "Chromecast with Google TV" to add a USB 2.0 port. It serves my needs and is hidden behind my TV where my morals can't see. I'm happy with it being $13 vs. the ~$40 I was seeing for alternatives.

Again, I understand your view on it and probably won't try it on a Nintendo Switch unless I desperately need a replacement dock.

Copyright or not, at 14bucks, it works extremely well for me on TB4, very happy with it.
