Flightfox

Just thought I'd let you know about FlightFox. I thought I was a pretty good flight searcher but this is like travel agent crowdsourcing - was looking for a flight from Mel - LA return in peak dec period and got an $1800 fare from flightfox (on qantas) whereas the next best I could find was around $3K for qantas.

It costs min $19 to run a competition but well worth it in my opinion.

  • Yeah. Saw that website covered by Fairfax newspaper this week.

    http://www.smh.com.au/technology/technology-news/lauren-takeā€¦

Interesting idea and it gave an example of great saving — Taiwan->Denmark->France->Taiwan $5,881 on Expedia and someone found a deal at $1,490.

I also wonder how many people are actually using this to make some extra side-income. For example, getting the routes, run it through flight search engines such as Adioso, win competition, earn commission and repeat! (And then watch the entire eco-system die due to all these automations).

    • I'm not sure how the people find the flights but I've tried searching on skyscanner, hipmunk, adioso, kayak, webjet, ebookers etc etc and nothing comes close to any of the fares they find! They're frustratingly good but I'll be using them again for sure.

  • What site did they find the cheap flight for you on?

  • webjet.co.nz funnily enough

    From their facebook page http://www.facebook.com/FlightFox.Web

"Hey folks! This is Smit, the new intern at Flightfox. In the spirit of me joining the team, I am giving away 50% off promo codes to try our site and get you the best flight. Email me at [email protected] to grab one!"

As I hardly know anything about Flightfox I figured I would post here instead of as a deal, if anyone else wants to then go ahead.
