Over 3 Months Awaiting Delivery Appalling Amazon Customer Service an Example

Hope someone has had a similar situation and good resolution. Any ideas how to get my item?

I ordered this on the 11/4/2022 and it still has not been sent. I paid $14, now it is $60

Currently the item is in stock (can be delivered tomorrow) and my item is still pending delivery. I know some people has theirs cancelled but mine was one where the orders went through.

I have spoken to 4 CS reps and I have been given the following advice:

You can cancel your old order and place a new one. It's only slightly more expensive
Um, it's over 4x more expensive

Would you like me to cancel the item?
No, I want my order please

Please wait longer for delivery
I have waited over 3 months, how much longer?

Sorry, our prices fluctuate and we can't price match
I just want my item delivered

        Then I suppose your options are to wait, and hope you get it, content in the knowledge that it may never arrive, or, if you really want the item, to pay the $60.

    Oh yeah I ordered that too. I checked the deal and lots of people had their order cancelled, mines still there but showing delivery date delayed..

    I've had this happen before on an item that was supposedly in stock Amazon US. Kept waiting for months, the answer from support was always to cancel and reorder which I did about 5 times. Ended up getting it eventually but it was the worst amazon experience ever. Only upside is they kept giving me credits for my troubles.

    But the above 1st July was only "estimated". I'd say it's as going as expected.

      Haha OP probably should have included that is was a pre-order that was only estimated at 1 July shipping! So has been waiting less than 3 weeks at best, not over 3 months.

    Ask for compensation for the delay. Hopefully you will eventually get enough to cover the updated $60 price.

  • I thought it was well known that Amazon don't do replacements. They only have the option to refund and buy again.

    Very unusual for Amazon not to be able to deliver though. Maybe the "Pre-order" stock was somehow not fulfilled by the Wholesaler and so they had a bunch of orders they couldn't deliver on. I think you are probably waiting on the next batch of stock therefore the huge delay.

    • Not really. I had an Amazon Day deal last year that delivered to wrong address (my address is Sydney and somehow courier delivered in Melbourne???). Customer service manually "refunded" but applied a discount (because then it's no longer on discount) to get me a replacement.

      • Maybe that was for special circumstances.
        I have always been told either to "wait it out" or "refund".

        In one case because I ordered a Ergotron LX monitor arm from Amazon UK for under $120 and it would just not ship.
        I recall it was showing as "1 left" when purchasing and when I saw it go "out of stock" I asked Customer support how come that "1 in stock" did not ship to me.
        Customer service basically just kept saying "it will ship soon" repeatedly or they offered to refund.
        Not wanting to pay more for the item, I waited it out. They even restocked with up to 8 or so in stock and they sold through to, and it showed as "out of stock" a for a second time. Still it did not show as shipped.
        After 2 weeks or so after that it finally showed as "shipped" and it arrived a week later. So in my opinion if you want the price secured, waiting it out was worth it.

    its not in stock with Amazon being the supplier.
    Amazon cant take someone else stock (they they hold for fulfillment) and provide it to you

    You paid $0.
    You would not have been charged until the item is shipped.

      Correct on the second point.

      On the first point I was told they sometimes source from others.

        Available suppliers for a product are listed and amazon (almost always) populates their lower price to the top. Other sellers listings/pricings can be seen from the link on the right (eg 'New and Used(Y) from $xxx', where y is the number of other supplier listings and xxx is the lowest price of the listings)

    Completely forgot about ordering this. I guess I'll wait and see they end up dispatching it one day. Don't think we've paid for anything yet so I'm not really fussed.
