Good for Uber users. I’m completely off Uber given it literally pilages small business earnings and facilitates people sitting at home eating take out.

Some people don't have cars and plenty of restaurants find the challenge of hiring and managing delivery drivers too difficult to overcome. Some people like to drink when they are at home off work too. I agree that Uber takes too much money from each sale, but for some of these sales they never would have been made in the first place if not for Uber. 70% of a sale is more profit than 0%. One day self driving cars will cheapen and democratise deliveries, but until then we have Uber and Menulog.

      • That might be the Uber speak, but how many people who can afford to use Uber frequently, don’t own a car.

And not all business, I would say mostly, are better off. People are just lazy. Funny thing is it’s so many 20-somethings paying some guy $20 above their meal cost to go get Maccas. Like eating that shit isn’t lazy enough they need someone to go get it as well.

        • I'd say most local businesses are lazy/cheap. They could make their own website, hire and train their own drivers, have their own marketing material delivered to locals. But it's too much bother, and they don't want to pay for it to be done for them either. Uber Eats sells them the whole package ready to go with no upfront fees, no risk that it might not pay off if they don't actually get many delivery orders.

Most businesses seem to just charge more on Uber Eats, passing the cost onto consumers, so I dont see a problem.
