Thanks Op, I still remember getting my Dyson V6 for $445 and bonus free $50 accessories. Wonder if we’ll ever see those prices again?

    • isn't that about what v8's go for now so couple more years and we'll be there :joy:

      • Where can I get V8 for this price now?

    • Wow that was pretty $$. Got my V7 from HN for $299 on Boxing day sale couple years ago

    • +2

      Im still on my V6
      Just replaced the batteries

      • Well, u will be blown away how convenient it become with v10 absolute ( i also own v6 absolute).

        • Convenient vacuuming or convenient replacing the batteries with the V10?

  • Is it better than V10 animal? We have a pet dog.

    • +12

No vet bills to worry about but not much personality and hard to train😉

    • +2

The only difference between the V10 Animal and Absolute+ are the attachments.

Absolute+ includes all the attachment that animal has + Fluffy cleaner head & Soft dusting brush

Here’s the list (older vs newer models) created by a Dyson employee. I’ve bookmarked it jic

I think this comment covers your question

it came with three motorised heads among other things.

Definitely worth the current extra $50 over animal sku, gains you ~$260 in extra tools. The extension hose is great for dusting and car detailing with the soft and stubborn dirt brushes

  • I've heard from family that the V10 has motor issues. Can anyone confirm this?

    • Can you share more? What motor issues? I've had it for 3 years now and haven't noticed anything.

That being said, it's my first dyson vacuum, so I don't have anything to compare it to.

I've heard from family that the V10 has motor issues. Can anyone confirm this?

I can confirm that for every product ever made, some percentage of them will have issues. We live in a time where we only ever hear about the problems, so this tend to vastly skew the results. Luckily we live in a country with strong consumer protection regulations, so keep your receipt and you'll be fine.

    • i have had it since it came out, no motor issue for me but the trigger snapped on mine, replaced with a non gen one from amazon and now it will stay on without pressing it, i actually like it this way but the only way to turn it off is by remove the filter.

  • Are these stick ones any good as the main vacuum cleaner? Our 20+ year old vacuum cleaner is near the end of its life and needs a replacement

    • +1

I used it as my main vacuum cleaner when I rented a studio apartment and now have been using it for 2 years in a 3 bedrooms house.

      Still going strong.

Edit: I wouldn't expect this stick vacuum to last you 20+ years without replacing the battery. I've heard from some commenters that they have had to replace the battery at 2.5 years mark, yet I've been using it for 3 years without an issue.

    • I was initially skeptical, but yes - they are absolutely an equivalent replacement.

I had a DC24 upright barrel for years until it fell to bits, but it was otherwise an excellent machine. Got the V10 Absolute because of the Hard Floor head, which is fantastic, but the V10 runtime will go for ages (usually half an hour or so) so I have no issues cleaning the entire house on a single charge at medium power.

I wouldn't go back to a corded one now especially since they're not really any cheaper.

Are these stick ones any good as the main vacuum cleaner?

Probably not likely to have as much power being a smaller unit, and you never see any commercial cleaners using them, but having said that, the missus replaced our regular vacuum with a Shark stick vacuum with the self cleaning head and she likes it better.

    • +1

They're more for spot cleaning or smaller apartments.
Wouldn't use this for larger houses or where it's going to be the primary vaccum unless you don't have much carpet. The battery lasts like 10 minutes on max suction, 20 minutes on medium suction.

  • What is the difference between the v10 absolute and the absolute plus?

    • I don't think the Absolute (non plus) was released locally in Australia, but the most likely difference would be the attachments.

  • Price has Been dropping everyday

    • +2

Waiting for price to reach low $600 range, and not eBay Plus related.

      • +1

Same here. Still waiting as not in a hurry for one but current market not sure how long the wait time gonna be

    But new model coming

  • +4

This is the new V10 model which comes with the Motorbar Head with anti-tangle feature The old one comes with the Direct Drive Head

    • +1

The eBay Product Page was just updated to change Direct Drive Head to the Motorbar Head.

      • You’re right. That’s now sold me on it!

    • I'm a bit confused. Under 'in the box' it says motorbar, but in the 'product features' it says direct drive head. Are these the same thing because I thought the old vs new model was one or the other?

  • I always wonder that with a Roborock and Dyson V8 do I still need to upgrade or not.

    • Nope. I have the Xiaomi robot and the v8. Ample cleaning for the home. The robot does great under beds and furniture. The v8 does fantastic for the missed out spots.

  • Have had the V10 Animal for 3 years so far and it's still got plenty of battery life, does great on wooden floors with the motorized head. Just had the charger fail, which Dyson promptly shipped out a replacement (out of warranty) for no cost.

  • It’s showing $799 in eBay. How are you reducing the price? I shop at Woolies but don’t know what that means to get this discount.
I’m after V8 on a bargain can’t find it anywhere.

    • You need to have ebay plus account, then enter coupon code PLRANGE3 to get the discount

      • Hi is the PLRANGE3 still available? It wouldn’t let me to apply.

        • PLRANGE3 was expired yesterday. It’s only available on the eBay Plus Tuesdays

Hopefully the price will be the same next week and my guess the new code could be PLRANGE4
