Speaker Suggestion for Desktop for Music, Movies and Games

Hey Guys,

I hope everyone is having a good day. I was in the market to get some good speakers for listening to Music, watching Movies as well as a little bit of gaming.

I was thinking of either getting PreSonus Eris E3.5 BT as they are small and apparently sound amazing but what i have read is they are not good for gaming etc so i am a bit confused there.

The second option that i have is the Edifier R2000DB they are apparently pretty good but a bit on the bulky side.

It would be great if someone could give better suggestions or share their experiences with the above.

Thanks.

    What's your budget? Money talks.

    • What would you suggest in the sub $100 range? Or is 'that cheap' not even worth it?

      Thanks mate.

        Headphones

Seriously at that budget, headphones will give best bang for buck

        • Have a pair of Sennheiser headphones GSP 350. They sound great but hurt my ear lobes after a while =\, my old sennies didn't have this issue.

Any tips on avoiding said pain outside of trying different headphones? Also, what would be the cheapest speakers you suggest?

          Appreciate the response, thanks mate.

@A-mak: I have been using the Edifier R1280DB for a year or so for my desktop PC - can find them around $100 on sale at times.
For the price, they are damn good.

Gigaworks T20s are great, I’ve move to headphones but I was kind of sad to lose my old set. Otherwise the Edifers suggested are very well reviewed.

Also look secondhand. PC speakers really haven’t changed much over the past decade or too besides adding Bluetooth and such. You can get a great set of Logitech speakers for next to nothing if you keep an eye out.

@msk19994: Something like the Logitech Z623, but generally Logitech speakers the price/quality ratio is about right. They rarely update them though, the Z623 has been around for over a decade and still on sale, the Z625 is a pretty minor upgrade. They're over $200 new but I can see a set on gumtree for $99 near me.

Depends if you want 2.1 or 5.1 though. I'm deaf in one ear so surround sound is meaningless to me :)

    • Already given 2 examples

  • Looks like OP is happy spending what I consider a decent chunk on speakers ($200-400). I personally am interested in something more budget-friendly.

Currently use super old creative 5.1's (without the rear speakers plugged in) on my gaming pc. Found out that they're using 5-8w of power even when the volume is switched to off (no light). I am looking to replace them with something that 1. makes sound and 2. doesn't use any power when the pc is off. I generally have the bass turned off to not piss off my neighbours (attached dwellings) but do like turning it up on occasion, the sound from my creatives are still nice.

What would you recommend for something more budget/best bang for buck friendly?

<not sure if I should make my own topic as I'm new, figured it'd be fine piggybacking off old mate>

I suggest Logitech Z623 THX certified 2.1 speaker.

    • Second these as you might like these the reason why I didn't like them. Weak treble but so bassy that it started moving things on my desk and made everything I heard listened like I was in a cheap home cinema with massive subs.

Edifier. Any of their sub $200 models are good.
