Not a bad deal given many similar lights are $60+

    • -4

And that price would be? >.>

  • +2

    Tell ‘em the price son

  • $19.99

  • Looks like membership trial free for 14 days

    • +2

Don't forget to cancel before then or you will see a $59.99 yearly subscription charge. Only warning you get is when you see your bank statement.

  • The product description says singular one 'light bulb' -
    Edit:
    Description says 10 light bulbs.

Can you extend these with two packs?

    • +3

      Yes

Just connects together via male female mains sockets according to manual

    • So it's nothing like the last picture then. 1 bulb per 1m? lol

  • +1

Same 10 bulbs, but 5m length is $15 at Kmart every day of the week..

    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/festoon-lights-42737629/?se…

    • +1

Made the mistake of getting the Kmart ones you linked to and the bulbs were plastic and the light was odd in the way it looked.
Can't explain it. They just looked cheap and nasty, so they were returned.

      • -4

Just re read the Kmart specs. They are also 10m (5m lead wire at the start, then globes 1m apart)..
Pictures look the same ..let's face it, they are the same product.

        • Nope.
Kogan set uses regular e27 bulbs that are replaceable

          • -1

@edrift: Okee dokes. Kogan type glass or plastic?

            • @tunzafun001: No idea. But you could easily replace the bulbs if you didn't like them.

My guess is that they'd be plastic for safety.

        • +3

The ones you linked to, which I had are NOT the same product.
The Kogan ones have a filament that comes down into the bulb and they connect to the main line differently.
The Kmart ones just had a tiny LED that shined from inside the base.
I don't think the Kmart ones are rated to outdoor wet weather use either. Certainly did not feel like it, as they were very light and had a cheap plastic feel overall.

Not trying to push the Kogan ones.
Just speaking from personal experience with the Kmart ones which are maybe ok for a little kids room or cubby house.

          • @rattle: Yeah, you are right. I was originally looking at the Aldi festoon lights ($25) and was going to get Kmart lights. They definitely were the filament type, but I just zoomed in on the pics on my link, and they are just single LED chips as you say.
So I take it back. The Kmart lights are crap.

    • Can you connect multiple lengths with the Kmart ones?

  • The BLACK in the title made me thinking the colour of the light was black. Not the colour of the product but the light after switching it on. Not even sure I am making myself clear.

It must be that tomorrow is Monday which making me crazy.

    • Black lights would be good for the after party cleanup… for certain ummm… stains.

  • Thanks OP, got one.

  • +1

    Can you buy replacement globes?

Was looking to get Costco set however they are $110, these Kogan ones seem much more reasonable

Can anyone speak to quality of these?

    • +1

Yes. They use ordinary E27 led bulbs

  • +2

Be careful with Kogan First free trial reminder, I made a reminder on the member settings page for Kogan to email and msg me before free trial expiry so they don't charge me for 1 year and Kogan didn't send any reminders before free trial expired. Was slogged $60. And they charge you straight away as well on the dot 12.01 am. Should have made a phone reminder.

    • +3

Thank you for subsidising mine and 25 others free trials ;)

      • thumbs up emoji

    • Should be able to disable automated payments through PayPal straight away

      • This, for all similar future payments, sign up then cancel in Paypal straight away, you get the full use of it, then when they go to deduct the payment….denied.

    • -1

I just signed up for free trial and noticed in the app they have an option to remind you 3 days before billing! I just turned that notification ON, so hopefully won’t forget to cancel.

      • +1

Honestly I reckon it’s there just to remove incentive for setting your own reminders. You rely on them and they conveniently don’t remind you

    • +2

I had the same issue and was charged for the whole year but I emailed them that I did not get any reminder and wanted to cancel it. They did not argue and refunded that money.

  • An ambience investment…

  • Thanks OP. Great find. Bought 2!

  • Thanks OP. Got 2 strings.

  • Price updated $29.95 now ha!

    • Black showing 19.95 for me, white 29.95

  • does this include 10x LED globes?

  • $2 per globe is a fair price

  • Any idea of the wattage of these bulbs?

    • 2W per bulb according to the User Guide

      • cool, may not have to only utilise the roof solar and turn them ON only during the day to save $$

  • Thanks! Got 5.

  • But do you really want outdoor lights plugged in to mains versus solar?

    • +1

This. I think it’s wild this set is advertised as suitable for outside but then doesn’t seem to have any waterproofing for the two mains style plugs when connecting two kits…

    • Yes, when your want a respectable amount of light output.

Other use case for these are in roof cavities and under house crawl spaces.
Handy to have lighting there when you need to to maintenance.

  • Wow thanks OP got 5 :)

  • Thanks got a few for the BBQ area

  • +1

Thanks OP. Been procrastinating on buying festoon lights for 12 months as I couldn't see the value. This is a awesome find! Bought 3

  • My wife has been wanting to get some of these for a while. Not sure i like them being mains voltage though. I would have expected a transformer and low voltage string/globes.

Page says: "Featuring a heavy duty wire that will withstand rain, hail or shine, these lights will last for years to come in the outdoors and have a IP65 water resistant design."

Manual says: "Keep the power cord in a dry place."

They probably mean the ends but still, pretty poor form not being specific in the listing or manual.

    • As long as the plug is kept dry and the lights are facing downward I would imagine there is virtually no chance of an electrical hazard.

I do tend to agree though that any outdoor party/temporary lighting should be ELV to be on the safe side

  • Ordered 3, got charged 3, shipping notification says 6 were shipped? Lol

    • Yeah ordered 2, says 4 were shipped for me

      • Lucky you!

Fingers crossed you get the extra ones.

I ordered one and got a notification saying 1 had shipped

    • Mine says double the amount were shipped as well!

      • No wonder they ran out of stock so quickly…they gave out twice as much as they needed to. Lucky for the ones that was able to order them.

    • Mine says double too. Although on kogan order history it has correct amount. Would be nice if they ship double but I feel like it's just going to be a mistake in the email.

    • Update: Received correct quantity

  • Can this be joined together to make it longer to cover more area?

    • +1

      Yes read manual

  • Thanks very much OP! Impeccable timing. I was browsing some on a different site at ~$100. Grabbed a few!

  • Got it delivered today, seems like good quality compared to kmart.

  • +1

    Received today.

Bulbs seem bright for only 2w. As expected they are plastic but don't look overly cheapo. They do look worse than the normal led filament bulbs you buy

Cable quality is quite good. Pretty heavy.

    • Is plastic better than glass, especially during our 40c summers?

      • TBC.

Glass does look better though, but may be less durable

"Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are unable to supply your Outdoor Festoon String Light with LED Filament Bulb (Black, 10m) as originally expected.

We understand that this is not the best news and we apologise for the inconvenience this has caused you."

    • +1

I ordered. They cancelled the order, and now still selling at a higher price on the site. Scammy marketing.

      • +1

Threaten to report them to ACCC

        • +2

          I advised my local bikies

  • got 3 sets, it looks great!!!

  • Just arrived, happy with the quality.

  • Just set these up and they are great.

How are people waterproofing the end power point/extension end? Maybe some baby safety caps?
