What Coffee Pod Machines Are Members Using?

Currently on the lookout to purchase a pod machine and was wondering what members are currently using and what people would recommend?

Ideally I'd be making an extra strong flat white so need something that produces hot water for the espresso/lungo.

Budget would be under $200, closer to around $120-140 the better

Also recommendations for pods and best value.

  • The basic Nespresso machine. It's fine, though I wish I just bought a mini home espresso machine instead. Then again it's nice not worrying about cleaning the thing. I tried the Woolworths pod machine in the past but it was kind of rubbish. The Nespresso machine is reliable and good pods can be had 30 cents each. I know someone who has the Miele built in Nespresso and it's great and all, but constantly jams.

Why not learn to make espresso or pour over?
It’s a waste of time persisting with these Bogun coffee machines, for a few dollars more you can learn how to make great coffee.

  • Lor. Wait for their free machine promotion.

none, pods don't have fresh grounds. ewwwww.

if you have taste buds and want a premium cup of coffee for a huge discount I would go and get an espresso machine with steam wand, grinder, and freshly roasted local whole beans.

It hurts the pocket immediately, but it pays its self off quickly considering $5 x 2 cups a day.

I was spending roughly $70 a week, $280 a month, and roughly $3640 a year. If you have a spouse, then it's double that.

my machine and grinder paid itself off in about 3 months time.

If you are cheap - instant
Good coffee in a rush and convenient - pod
If you got time and nothing better to do or classy or so called coffee adict - ground coffee

I do drink all three, they all good but different 😉

        Accurate.

And the time thing is exactly right.
All well and good if you have the time and energy to use a real machine, make a nice coffee then clean up your mess.

I have approximately 5 minutes to myself before i go, no time for a hand crafted Brazilian cat poop ground bean coffee experience. Nespresso ftw!

      • Which one is best for value taste and convenience? I have tried instant since it's free at work but never pods but if there is some flavour benefit with pods or even value then I might get a pod machine it looks cool but if you are losing flavour and value then might not be worth it for me

I have the Nespresso Mini Essenzo and have just used it. It was only 120 at the Good Guys and I got free capsules with it

    • This. I have the de longhi white version and it just works. Got mine for about $130 with the aerocino frother after cashback from Myer.

I'm using the one that's free at work.

  • Nespresso Lattissima. Sure, you can get better quality for cheaper but the convenience is worth the price for me, who is not a big coffee drinker (also not interested to learn).
I would probably just go with a basic Nespresso machine.

I got the L'OR BARISTA® Coffee Machine - Premium Latte

Got it on the last Woolworth's deal for free with Spending a certain $ amount (may be like $90 or 99 something like that) on coffee pods ( i think i bought like around 33-40 pods pack- most of them are past their Best before date now though).

But coffee machine still going strong no problems at all. Was definitely a good worth use of my rewards points to buy those coffee pods.

  • Get a real coffee machine, only a little more or even same price. No extra effort really, except emptying the grounds bin once a fortnight or so depending how much coffee you drink. Much cheaper on coffee and better coffee as you can use fresh beans. A real coffee machine with a frother wand will make much nicer coffee than either using a frother jug or microwaving the milk to warm it. Delonghi dedica machines are only $150-$200 depending if they're on sale, take up hardly any room on the bench and you could get a nice second hand grinder and bin for maybe $50. After that you only need to spend maybe $20? per bag of coffee for 100? coffees instead of around 50c a coffee for pods. (No idea on the actual numbers but buying a new bag of coffee is very infrequent while I remember needing to buy a new box of pods every week when I had a pod machine).

  • Bought the Aldi machine and buy their pods. No complaints, it's a decent cup of coffee for the price and a gazillion times better than instant. Friends who own a $3,000 stainless steel machine that grinds the beans and froths the milk, always comment how nice my Aldi pods are and never refuse a second cup. Maybe they are being polite? 🤣

I just realised the Good Guys never sent me my Mothers Day click and collect $10 store credit

    • Their terms say that you need to be signed up for their spam to get it. At least it did when I missed out on a previous promo. Are you unsubscribed?

  • I checked my emails and there is only the transaction emails. I never unsubbed anything as far as I know. I rarely unsub anything

  • Gave in and bought the Nespresso Essenza Mini (white version) for $129 at GG.

I quite enjoy it so far, the standout is the Vittoria Espresso, I use 2 pods with a dash of milk. Happy to take any other suggestions!

Definitely not a machine for someone that wants a full cup of coffee, I've seen a lot of complaints about coffee not being hot enough and weak but more so someone that wants to experiment with different flavours and enjoy the taste without having to buy multiple bags.

  • I had to watch a tutoriall to learn how to use it, but I got there, have lots of pods to try thanks to a mothers day promotion

  • So after a month of using the coffee pod machine I've gone back to the moka pot. Ive been finding myself sluggish of the mornings and a lot of pods are hit or miss.

Will make a nice piece on my shelf of appliances.
