OK, I will pay that, despite the fact I am none the wiser

It's a pad for your desk.

I thought they were pretty Clear.

Other than the memes, it's basically a big mousepad that you can also put your keyboard on top of. Means you can have the two close together and if you like moving your mouse around a lot, you have a lot more space to move it. I have one of these - a great cheap option to achieve the goal.

I'm more of a crunchy nut guy myself but you are right.

      • Each to there own. I rotate between these fruit loops. You could even use them as place mats on your cosco dinning room table.

  • I will give this to my spouse as a yoga mat gift.

    • She must be cute and a pocket rocket

    • You can't marry a human under 17. Otherwise it's a very small person

One Pass is quite underrated imo.

  • Thanks OP. Ordered a few for C&C.

  • idk mane seems kinda low quality but $3 isn't much of a gamble for those who bought it

I have one of these and it's honestly pretty good. Given I don't game anymore, maybe I'm not the target demographic, but it's a great joint mousepad/place to rest my keyboard without having to worry about space.

      • oh nice! can't go wrong really

      • +1

I don't game that much anymore but switching from standard mousepad, to no mouse pad for years, to giant mouse pad (table mat), these mats are pretty good.

Occasionally, my mouse would jump, change speed minisculy, stop moving just enough to be annoying when it happened but not enough to be a real issue. I'm sure some people have had similar issues where something is annoying but not critical to require fixing.

Ever since I got a large desk mat, my mouse (Logitech 502 hero) has been perfectly reliable ever since, plus I never need to worry about it being on the right surface because a huge part of my desk is covered.

I have one too, picked up for same price. The other side is black so you can use either side. It's not the best as a mouse pad though. Doesn't slide very smoothly. I still enjoy it as it gives the table a nice look/feel and protection.

Good price. Personally I use a self-healing A3 Cutting Mat for when I need to do little electronic projects, cutting, or soldering.

    • +1

      how does it self heal?

      • Nanobots.

Anyone who has it: Would this be good for playing cards on?

    • My thoughts exactly! I bet it would make a perfectly adequate surface for cards, at that price.

    • It will need something relatively heavy on top otherwise it slides around like crazy. Think 1-2kgs.
If you have nothing on it but cards and give it a bump everything might end up on the floor.

I've got one of these but found the mouse is more resistive to moving around compared to my mousepad so I only use it for the kb

i bought this desk mat at near full price. it creases horribly and is average at best. I've since bought a new one. Quite a waste of money

    • It's not "amazing" but it's not terrible either. The worst thing about it is probably the fact it's double sided so it slides around very easily.

I got a larger one for around $10. It was like $12 Fulfilled by Amazon AU with a coupon able to be applied for discount. I thought it was cheap at the time, but getting 2 of the ones in this deal would be more area for only $6.

It has held up well and I have uses for it so I wouldn't call it a waste in my experience. By the way they are sold at many places and every single one I've come across is identical except for size, so looks like one factory is just pumping these out. If you see "PU leather deskmat" you can just get the cheapest one they are all the same thing.

  • +1

I have a larger 80x40cm one of these commonly named "PU leather" deskmat's which was about $10 Fulfilled by Amazon AU.

Hopefully it's not too late for some of you to reconsider, but here are some positive and negative points about it.

The good: + It's held up well, not coming apart or crumbling etc. + It's not fabric or woven so it's "spill proof", easy to wipe clean and I think it has more anti-static properties than your regular mousepad. + Not thin but thinner than your average mousepad. + Ones with brighter color options make it easy to keep track of screws and other small bits and bobs. + I didn't have any issues using a mouse on it, but then again I am not exactly a big computer/gamer user.

The bad: - They are more cheaply made than you think don't let the word PU leather fool you they are basically 2 layers of thin flexible plastic stuck together. - They come packaged rolled up, but once unrolling they remain "slightly wavy" for longer than I would like. A way to get rid of the waves quicker is to probably put some books on top. - They are double sided which is nice for variety of color but this means both sides are the same and very smooth. If you put them directly on the average smooth desk they slide around a lot which can be annoying. - If you store them rolled up again or in a weird position they will quickly hold that shape and not lie flat again.

All PU products should be banned

    • Not sure about your experience but I won't be throwing mine out anytime soon.

I wonder if PU qualifies as "soft plastic"? Which you can now drop off to be recycled at supermarkets.
