Warranty Issues Talk to Seller or Manufacturer?

Ok I have a hisence tv that's dead 3 year warranty (from manufacturer) bought in 2020.

I beleave under ACCC as it's bulky (75" tv) I'm not required to transport it they need to sort that out.

But as it's past 1 year old do i go through harvey Norman or hisence directly.

Can Harvey tell me it's not there problem.

What did they say when you contacted them?

I have not yet. Waiting for a mate to arrive to remove tv off wall as it may have a reset switch. This is just so if they tell me xxxxx I can say nope blow a goat this is the requirement.

May? Surely you can confirm that with the manual or something, before you pull it off the wall. I'd like to think that the reset button is in an accessible location, even when wall mounted.

I don't know much about hisense TVs, but most whitegoods manufacturers put a lot of thought into making their appliances serviceable in-place (or close to), rather than needing to transport them or flip them.

      • Surely you ask the questions and obtain as much relevant information and or instructions from both the seller and manufacturer….in the First instance.

In here, the options are endless with out some half decent effort to respond to first.

Hisense sends out a technician to your house IIRC. If they deem it as user error / damage caused by user they charge you a call out fee, if it's not then the repair costs nothing.

    • I'm central Qld so unlikely i have a service repair agent.

      • I'd be surprised if they didn't … TVs in central qld break, right?

        • Agreed but it states 25km range they will come to site. Sure as hell there going to need alot of repairers to cover central Qld with a 25km square grid of repairers.

ACL States that the retailer can't tell you it's not their problem. There's no distinction after 1 years or 3 years or 5 years. The retailer has to honour whatever manufacturer warranty the item was sold with.

You might find that in the first instance HN just calls the manufacturer for you or asks you to call them directly, so there's no middle man with setting up a technician visit. The manufacturer might decide to replace the TV, instead of sending a technician.

I spoke to hisence. Confirmed it's broken. Told them I want money as it's a major fault. I'll either turn arround buy another tv new model for $500 cheaper and pocket cash or see if with commercial good guys I can get a 85" for 2k

They need to call me back tomorrow as they want to send a repair guy arround, I said nope I'm entitled to choose plus as I paid cash I want cash (ok that's being petty but still)

Let's see what they say tomorrow.
