So I was talking to someone who is a citizen of a South East country not being able to travel to US to meet family. I thought it maybe due to some COVID reasons, but she told me it is due to wait times for visitor visa (B2 or B/II I think) being 300+ days.
I tought it was a joke but I checked the US department site and it was true
I randomly put cities around the world and found
* Sydney 390
* Melbourne 300
* Perth 80 (wow)
* Paris 528
* Chennai 999
* Dhaka 642
* Beijing 2 (ya 2)
Is this true or am I missing something? And this is the time just to get the visa appointment, then there is more time to process and approve as per the site.
Not surprised. The US embassies in Sydney and Melbourne were closed for a very very long time. Even well after lockdowns were lifted here, they remained closed. There's likely a huge backlog to go through and long list of applications.
Same for Australian visas really. Long wait times for most visa subclasses.
