Has Amex said anything officially regarding Shop Small & whether it's gone forever or just on a temporary Covid-related pause ?
Has it previously gone on a pause in the past & then come back ? Or, is it the "end of an era" ?
I'm thinking that if it's gone forever, then I might as well cancel most or all of my Amex main & supplementary cards.
The only reason I have an AMEX was for Small Shop and VOGUE Fashion night where you could get the discounted Westfield, Myer or DJs gift cards. If they are both gone/ diluted then I should probably cancel and wait my 18 month period for the next card for bonus pts

Shop small as it was is gone. It does still exist in a very limited (shoddy) format for those who are targeted. Shop Small is not a reason to own an Amex anymore. In fact, there are lots of reasons not to own one anymore.

I can only successfully move on, if I do the credit card equivalent of deleting old photos & unfriending on Facebook :-) which would be cutting up my cards with a pair of scissors.
Every time I look at my Amex cards, I weep & remember my happy memories of running around the Sydney CBD topping-up my Opal cards. :'-(

Yes, another reason to cut the amex
IMO… shop small was to increase uptake for these small retailers to accept amex…. job done so why do it anymore from a marketing/business POV by AMEX
by the way, I just received the shop small offer on 1 of my 3 amex cards

Yep, what a joke! I just confirmed on Amex chat: "There will be 10 lucky draws. And every lucky draw person will get 10 million points". Each time you spend $1 or more in participating "Shop Small" business, you will get 1 entry into the draw".

It's not gone, it has "evolved" (to put it nicely).
I wasn't targeted for their latest offer, and judging by the reaction of the current deal, not a lot were targeted either. Considering the steep increase in the spend requirement, I am not overly sad about missing out on this round.
