Careful with Red Rooster Online Orders

A few observations given that red rooster is actually trying to make it in the fast food industry.

Red rooster will take your money even though you haven't checked in your items. It will stay pending for quite awhile then will be debited. For instance you ordered for today but couldn't make it. There is no option to check in tomorrow.

You cannot pre order. Must be collected same day.

You order on the app and you need to check in when you arrive at the store. You could be waiting 15 to 25 minutes during peak periods. Walk ins and drive through take priority.

When getting items delivered there was no email or SMS trail. Food can randomly turn up. You are not notified of this. If doordash is delivering they won't even knock as they think the app / company takes care of the notification. Food can be made 45 minutes earlier as per the docket.

Anyway, if you have any stories or similar issues let people know.

actually trying to make it in the fast-food industry.

I thought they were a money laundering business with their empty stores.

I generally don't check in in-store I do it just before I arrive so my order is waiting for me when I do arrive. No issues with waiting even during peak times. Although it is a shame that there is no pre-ordering like Dominos pick up.

    Easy solution, go to KFC

KFC don't do the roast meals though. I love the quarter roast chicken, potato, peas and gravy.

KFC have Zinger Boxes, far superior than anything RR can offer : )

The fried chicken is tops at red rooters.

          • @dasher86: The spicy pieces are definitely spicier than Zingers/Wicked Wings, yeah. I don't often grab Red Rooster but I was pleasantly surprised the last time I had it.

Sounds more like try-hard, than serious attempt.

Ah yes, cashrewards had 40% cb so I ordered, headed there and when I press check in, it just errored. Got the cashier to look then got a text saying my order errored and wasn't charged. Was charged anyway, wtf. Had to reorder, and then the meal was so saltily horrible anyway, wasted effort

RR has been this way for decades, but it is still here!

For instance you ordered for today but couldn't make it. There is no option to check in tomorrow.

Isn't this the way with all the apps? and who is ordering meals and not picking them up straight away?

You cannot pre order. Must be collected same day.

Isn't this the way with all the direct apps? Only the delivery companies aka ubereats, doordash etc let you order ahead.

You order on the app and you need to check in when you arrive at the store. You could be waiting 15 to 25 minutes during peak periods. Walk ins and drive through take priority.

    Go through the drive thru?

If you order directly with KFC for delivery for example that uses doordash, I get SMS saying its coming and delivered etc. Is your phone number correct?

  • When getting items delivered there was no email or SMS trail.

I've always gotten a sms with the order tracking link from Red Rooster. The issues I have are the delivery itself. Last time I used it I experienced:

Pick up time original estimate was 5:50pm moved to 6:20pm. Ok busy time that is fine.
The delivery driver who went offline for at least 50mins of the next 75mins.
Finally at 7:35pm got it delivered by a 11 year old in his PJs while his mother was in the front seat coughing up a hairball. So even if I did want to ask so what happened? I wouldn't want to go near a person coughing like that.

Path seemed to follow Red Rooster —-> Chinese store ——> house A ——> KFC (which was next to Red Rooster) ——> Foodary/couchfood* —-> house B ——> house C ——> then my house. Total spent 65mins driving further away from my house then only 10mins driving to it so they had to be stopping for something.
There isn't any congested roads where they needed to sit in traffic. Also there are 2 direct roads from where I saw them to here.
At no stage where they more then 7.2kms or 10mins away from my house to furthest road due to the ocean. Even if you drove up and down random streets for the lols it still wouldn't have taken 75mins.

So every time I have gone I wouldn't mind some Red Rooster. I have thought of this experience do I want it in a car with someone trying to remove a hairball for over an hour? Id rather flush the money down the toilet. As Id likely end up needing to use it a lot.

I've wondered can you accept a delivery and then close/suspend the app while doing other things? Like stopping and doing ride share or a rivals service as well? It seemed like whoever the driver knew how to play the system. Someone said "it's a max of 2 pick ups per run". But if they open a different app at the same time is it that simple to get around? let alone needing a second phone?

I'm interested to know what safe guards the app has. Eg goes you have been offline for 5mins connect now or punishment threat? and then what happens.

  • I use the red rooster app to order quite frequently, and I receive a sms when the order is picked up and can track from there (It is door dash) however I have only ordered for when ive been hungry and wanted food straight away always been delivered within 30 minutes even in peak., I have never used it for a pre order or pick up in store. I find the app quite easy to use, and not had an issue. Wack its different for yourself.
