I've searched high and low for a decent SSD deal this Prime Day but this is the best I could find so far. Stack with 14% cashback to bring it down to approx. $116.47 (until 6pm AEST)

Compatible with PS5 - instructions - though you should also buy a heatsink for ~$20

This is considered a high-end NVMe SSD - good price if you're after 1TB

Unfortunately no good deals on 2TB capacity yet - maybe when more US and UK deals go live?

Price History at C CamelCamelCamel.

Thank you! Was looking for good NVME deals for a few weeks now and decided to pull the trigger on this one

  • Anyone know what the temp and efficiency is for this? I need something for a laptop and was told they could affect battery life and cooling to some extent.

Check out some info in this review
In summary, it is not as good as Samsung and WD Gen 4 drives (though they are more expensive), but it is better than the standard P5 (non-plus) by a decent amount, making it a cooler and more power-efficient drive (and decent compared to Gen 3 drives).

      • depends which samsung ..evo970 plus or the 980, or 980 pro ????

        • I believe it is only the 980 pro which is gen 4

      • Mate, that's just one review site. I read a few others before grabbing one that showed it only very narrowly falling behind the 980Pro in this size… but at a far better price.

Yeah I totally agree with you, was just trying to link some info which might be helpful for his question. I personally think that extra $$$ makes the 980 Pro not worthwhile.

This site has all the information you could ask incl benchmarking, slc caches & thermal imaging (not affliated)

I've searched high and low for a decent deal. I haven't spent a cent on Prime Day today and the same last year. It's kinda like they stopped with the effort for Amazon AU now.

Thanks OP - grabbed one with CR 👍 Any recommendations for a good heat sink?

    • +1

I'm not too familiar on all the differences with heatsinks, but I have seen the 'be quiet!' brand recommended and it is a well-known brand, so given it is only ~$20 and around the same price as other heatsinks and no-name brands, I'd probably opt for one of those myself. Though further research is always a good idea. Apparently it needs to be the Be Quiet MC1 (the Pro variant is NOT compatible).

    • for a PC, check if motherboard came with a heatsink already all mine came with a heatsink for the main NVME, for PS5 … havent got a clue.

  • The $133.46 price is still active but cashback offer expired, if a mod wants to edit the deal

    • Deal titles should not contain duplicates, please leave out the cashback part in the future if it's been posted already. The expiry date shouldn't be set incorrectly either.

Not sure why it's marked EXPIRED, listing still works fine. And even without the $16.98 (14%) cash back, it's still a good deal.
This was actually my first purchase at 4:02pm today. 😉

    • Haha nice! I was desperately searching for something in 2TB capacity but gave up…

Found this article about heatsinks on Eurogamer - it could be a good starting point for people like myself who haven’t done this kind of thing before. https://www.eurogamer.net/digitalfoundry-best-ssds-for-ps5#h…

  • finally something worth buying in prime day

    • Check out this WD Black SN850 1TB NVMe Gen 4 M.2 SSD for $149.05 - similiar, a bit better, slightly more expensive. This P5 Plus was really good with cash back. If you're not too fussed about the differences, the P5 Plus is still probably the cheapest way to upgrade the PS5 storage.

      • thanks, i actually cancelled my order and thinking about WD for my laptop, but i am a bit concerned about the temperature, anyone can comment on this?
